I hope this was sarcasm. I had read that we would still owe Totenham a fee if he makes a certain number of appearances for us, even on a new contract. Not sure how reliable that is. Either way, given the uncertainty of his football fitness at this point and likely wages sought, I can't see him getting a contract from Everton. Time to move on in my opinion. Wish him the best going forward.

Glad we are helping him but we shouldn’t offer him a new contract.I hope this was sarcasm. He wont go anywhere, he'll run his contract down. So he can squeeze every last penny out of getting a new contract on a free.
Him not going to Newcastle will probably have cost us 3 players (minteh, and 2 players with the 30m) that could of really change the squad and how we play and damaged our psr.
Cant wait for him to do another interview where he crys about not feeling appreciated at everton. While hes on 100kpw, spends half the season injured and spoons every 1v1 into row z. Then leaves on a free next summer to join west ham so he can wear skirts in london.

Players have to do what is best for them just as clubs do (or should do) what is best for them. DCL has given us good but not great service. He’s become a target for abuse because of his flamboyance (and for some, skin colour) which got under some skins at a time when he was injured and not contributing.
It is a shame for everyone if he feels under-appreciated (reading some of these posts who can blame him) and is more than open to leaving. Seeing how it has worked for Gordon must also influence him.
Be annoyed with him if you want but we if we are now going to beat him over the head by double counting the hypothetical £30m fee claiming we can spend it on both £30m Minteh and somehow magically also spend it again on two more players then it is getting ridiculous.
Personally I hope he is here next season, stays fit, plays well, guides us into BMD in mid-table security and then gets the move he wants at a time when we will be better able to survive the foregone fee. Either way, good luck to him and thanks for all time for the Palace and Red ***** goals.

Speaks about extensions to (current) contract, that is very different to a new and separate contract with a free agent.
certainly hope that’s the case as I fear we will be offering him a new one.
Not sure how Spurs could tie us to a payment for a free agent imo.
