Maybe "previous" is a bad choice of words. History. Much better.

He was actually so bad at free kicks for us that he gave up taking them from shooting positions in the end.

Putting aside the horrific ending, he scored 14 goals in 1 season for us. That stops him getting anywhere NEAR that particular award.

No way would we have ground out results in those final few games with him slopping about the pitch. He is a stain on this football club and also humanity.

My thing is the way he played that led to those goals was wholly detrimental to what we could do. So he was really bad in that way.

I'd much rather have someone with greater physical presence than those two. I think Winks is a busted flush of a footballer and whilst I think Gilmour could be effective, I think he'd be better slightly further forward with far less defensive responsibility. I think Grillitsch would be a fine free pick up as he's got size, good forward passing and seemingly solid positional awareness and as we seemingly don't have two pennies to rub together can we really do better?

Yes Onana would be a very exciting signing but for that to happen we'd have had to be all over that as soon as the window opened and before Lille had a chance to sell Botman. They can basically ask for whatever they want now and whatever they want is likely to be far more than whatever we have.

I have never seen Onana (other than u tube) play but what I have read about him he seems to be just what we are looking for, very tall, good with both feet quick and good in the air at both ends of the field, what more do we want.
