Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

I just wish that for once our scouts would get off their arse and do some work. Why are we pretty much exclusively linked with crabs from the premier league every window

Everton don’t have a great deal to spend this season with the well documented FFP restrictions, you won’t see a net spend of over £35/40m without further sales. So at least they’re trying to extract full value out of how they spend, with the obvious caveat being season starts in 3 weeks.
We would need to spend about 100m to have a net spend of 40m

I would be happy to see us just reinvest the Richarlison money

100% we’re in relegation fight. From a mid table team we’ve lost Digne, James, Siggi, Richie over last two season and replaced with far poorer, less productive players.

Any hope I had for the season was on the basis the board got such a fright last season that they would have pulled out all the stops to get rid of the flops and bring in new midfielders and forwards.

As it is, we’ve sold our best player and are scratching around for loans and cheap deals.
This is the worst thing for me. All the players who got us into this mess are still hanging around like bad smells, whilst the one player who got us out of it has been sold. Other than Tarkowski, who will be great for us, there is no sign of others coming in. We can't even do a deal for a bang average joe with a release clause.

Aye Juve paying up early would hit this years books. So you’d have circa £60m if so and this squad needs more than that to fix it, unless they do clever business with loans.
Juve are hardly flush with cash and want to shift a few of their own players like Ramsay and Dybala, so there's no way they're voluntarily going to pony up the £20-25m fee a year early just to do us a favour.

Cos they get met with a who? if they dare try scouting abroad from the transfer geniuses in the fan base

It’s not to do us a favour. It’s to do them a favour by not having to pay the next season’s agreed loan fee and then pay the agreed fee at the end anyway. If they buy him now and sell them out then they’ve save the season loan fee.

Then they shouldn’t be negotiating for moves for him before they’ve even paid us

That might have happened if we'd have gotten relegated (couldn't have afforded not to ship out half the squad one way or another), but since we've regained Prem status/cash for another season, it's probably been a big sigh of relief and assuming that we'll be fine in the "top 17" next season as we wont have the injury crises we did. Hence no need for wholesale changes.

That and the players we'd liked to have move on have no bidders in for them and and are too good a contract to seek a move elsewhere for less money.

Technically he's their player, they can do whatever they want with him. It was us that agreed to not receiving paying until summer 2023. We could have -and should have- told them to pay up front or no deal. But that's the world class Everton negotiators for you.

Look at the midfield options: Allan, Doucourre, Iwobi, Davies, Gomes and Gbamin. There’s no one there getting 5 goals and assists - they’re lucky if they’re getting that between them. It’s woeful - defensively/physically weak, attacking/creativity nil. Whatever combination you use is terrible. No protection for the defence and no support for the attack.

Can’t see how we can play 3 at the back with that midfield but Lampard’s going to try. Going to need a Herculean effort from Kev Thelwell if we’re to have any chance.

It’s going to take 4 or 5 to come in just to get us competent. DCL goes down we are Rondon up front so we need a back striker. We need a replacement for Richi. Two centre midfielders minimum. And another centre back as three we have are atrocious. Can’t see it.
