I'm assuming Burnley want a decent fee upfront for Cornet, and maybe someone like Forrest are willing to pay it....
Leaving us with the absolute dregs
Yeah I think what’s happening here is Burnley know Cornet’s clause requires the full amount to be paid and are convinced someone will ultimately pay the full amount. Whereas they are willing to take instalments for McNeill, as they did with Pope. McNeill wouldn’t be top of my list but in fairness nor will he be a budget buster.

Is there much difference between Gray and McNeil? I certainly wouldn't say McNeil is any better. Especially when we are in more desperate need of a midfielder.

Well I mean, in reality, that stat from the statto dude said that he created 47 chances.

I could count treble that that gray refused to play someone in or cut inside and ignored the overlap for a mental shot.

Not sure how many chances gray made, might be similar, but would like a bigger chance creation going on and McNeil might give that.

Nah, I really rate him too.
He wouldn’t be top of my list but he’s decent with a lot of headroom too. The fault for some of his his bad stats lies squarely on bad teammates too. He’s played well over 100 PL matches at the age of 22 and that’s quite rare- there’s plenty of good experience there but still plenty of time to improve.

Just me that's a big fan of McNeil?
I don’t hate him, he’s only 22 I think he’s a good player but I’m concerned about allocating resources here. He’s never scored goals, it’s not his game and expecting him to score a bunch of goals is a waste of time. But what he can do is provide some decent crosses for Dom to get on the end of, which was a very underrated need for us. Gordon, Gray, Iwobi, Dele, etc don’t provide that, so the responsibility was going to lie solely on our full backs who still need to show they can do it at this level.

For me it’s all about the cost. We have to sign another goal scorer (Broja maybe?) and we have to sign two midfielders. Does this signing take away from that? Are we talking closer to 10 or 20m here? Based on everything we’ve heard about our budget I think it’s a disaster if it’s our Richarlison replacement or half of our transfer budget.

For me he's good at the things that don't really effect games. He brings the ball well up to the final third, and he is good at picking up possession and getting a team up the pitch a bit. That is arguably something we lack.

But his final third play is just poor to me. He doesn't get into the box enough, he doesn't pass between the lines - most of his chance creation is crosses, and his finishing is not good. Assists are a bit down to luck, but to only have 1 and no goals, is just poor play.

There's no place for this rational, level headed assessment here my friend.

Think he’s distinctly average myself, but he turns 23 this year, so fits the youthful mould, and in the outcome we do go down, he’s either a sellable player or someone who’ll cope with the Championship.

Thinking positively, hopefully a new environment, with less Dyche-esque football may help get him back in form.

Just relegate us now.

I am just utterly, utterly outraged.

Yet, if we are going to buy from Burnley, we won't pay Cornet's release fee supposedly.

So, is McNeil is to be our Richarlison replacement?? A player who does not score, does not assist, has no pace and no stamina. This will actually overtake Tosun as the worst signing we have ever made. I am beyond livid. It is better to not sign anyone than sign a player this bad ????????

You're just worried you'll be demoted to second most popular Dwight on this forum. Relax, buddy.
