Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Opinions and all that, but despite his struggles this season I think Gilmour is one of the best prospects I've seen in recent years.

If Lampard is going to transition us to playing out from the back through midfield much more next season, we'll need players who can do it and he's tremendous at it. We would 100% need another centre mid too with more physical presence though, I absolutely accept that

I think given the Lampard links - he gave Gilmour his debut and played him a fair bit - and Gilmour's contract status, he's one that seems plausible
Very hard to predict how Lampard could set us up next season.

It may be an instant 433 after preseason and bringing in players or it could be a gradual shift from the 541 were watching now.

Massive bearing on the business we do.

Would be good to get a dominant DM who can add some height in both boxes but also dictate play from deep.

A bit like what Gbamin should have been. Delph just doing average DM type things has made a massive difference to our solidity in recent games.
Tchouameni would have been ideal a season or two ago but now massively expensive.

Perhaps Bissouma as the 'monster' ?

1 yr on his deal.

Don't think anyone is mixing them up, they are 2 completely different players, Gallagher is more of a box to box type who is always looking to push on (the type of player Doucoure really should be) and Gilmour is more of a deep lying playmaker type who can get stuck in but is also able to pass it forward and start attacking moves. Tom Davies should be no more than a squad player, at a push.
In an ideal world we'd get both :)
good.. make them pay up, we can get 3 players in for the money we pay for pickford (one a good standard goalie with potential) then it's how we should have been doing business for years.
Rumour is £45mil from Spurs.

Lets see if this new sporting director is actually allowed to do his job without various people shoving their respective oars in.
Track record of signing young players.
Should be how it is.
Play hard ball. They want him? Come and pay. If he does go, we. We need to demand top money for him. Like £75m+ kinda money.
Ridiculous amount. But if somebody wants England's #1, and at the moment arguably the best shot stopping keeper in the league, then you gotta pay.
That kind of money gets us a new keeper and a CB.
£75mil would make him the worlds most expensive keeper. The rumour is Spurs at £45mil which would have him as 3rd most expensive (hes still 6th from his £25mil move to us).

If we stay up we need to target young hungry players for me. So a young CB/leader, a DM with mobility(can't see Delph being offered a new contract unless its just a year extension as a squad player, who knows on Gbamin?) a playmaker probably a striker too.

CB: Worral?
DM:?
Playmaker: Gilmour/Johnson?
Striker?Broja

I would much rather us unearth little gem's who will work for the shirt, than overrated and overpaid dross. We need to learn from our mistakes. I can't see Thelwel being that stupid tbh he seems like he knows what he is doing

Agreed there's plenty of talent in the lower leagues/French and German leagues. He probably has a database since he worked at Wolves.

If we sign Gilmour we need shooting.

A horrific player who cant even get games for the worst side in the league.

Please, dont use Gana or Doucs, they played a LOT and didnt struggle for games based on talent.

Was just a suggestion because his contract is running down and Lamps said he liked him at Chelsea. I haven't seen him at Norwich. I am not saying go all out for him or even that we should was just a set of thoughts off the top of my head I'm no scout.

Hard to tell how Lampard will set us up next season. If he changes quickly or gradually over a couple of seasons from the current style.

Depending who leaves we may find ourselves needing:

GK
CB × 2
DM
CM
ST × 2

Any recent videos of Worral online?

Brennan Johnson would be wide right, perhaps competing with Gordon there if we somehow hold onto Richarlison on the left.

Thelwell will have an eye on all the young gems as thats his modus operandi. He'll also have had access to the Red Bull network and likely know most, if not all the upcoming talents.

One area where I think we should invest is in the u23s. £15-20mil a season on top upcoming talents there to sign and develop before their values increase.

Hes no better than Tom Davies for me.
Fair enough we need someone who can step up with goals and assists from midfield. Iwobi is working hard and is flexible positionally but he doesn't score or assist enough to be a number ten or a box to box who contributes with goals.

You can't buy a midfielder based on goals though. That's called a Doucoure

Sure just saying we do need goals from midfield, it isn't all you assess though of course all-round game is just as important. I would say Sig is a better example of us buying someone based on goals and assists, Doucoure does have a bit more than just goals he has been used in various roles...
