Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

No, actually Allan was great in his first season here.

Yes he's showing signs of rapid decline and in hindsight the timing of that decline was probably predictable given his age. I'd grudgingly agree that he was probably a poorly-considered purchase, again due to age.

But he certainly did have a strong first season with us.
All about opinions isn't it. For me we were overrun in midfield in about 75% of our games that season so it's difficult to see how any of the midfielders can have been particularly good, but you're obviously welcome to disagree.

Garner as an upgrade on Davies and Brereton Diaz as an upgrade on Rondon would be smart, non-flashy business. The problem is that if that we then go on to buy Joao Pedro (who I really like) we’re looking at all of the Gordon money gone already. We’re a better team overall but we still won’t have replaced Richy or brought in a real immediate impact player. Depth vs impact is tough here especially with teams knowing we’ve got a windfall potentially coming.

He's just signed a new contract

Terrier signed a new contract this morning didn't he - thought i read it.
I gave in and asked my sister-in-law to translate (fluent French speaker): Terrier just signed a 1-year extension to his existing contract.

Rennes might just be trying to push his price up. Equally they may REALLY want to keep him. The point is he's going to cost more than £35m at this point.

Edit: pleased that I got the initial translation right!
