Yeah Rom moved for similar reasons, but before he did he scored 32 in 66 games across his West Brom and us loans.

Broja scored 6 in 32, went 13 games from Feb till seasons end without scoring a bean.

May he turn out very good, ofc he might, but right now his expectations are WAY higher than anything he's done merits

This has been explained before but here goes anyway. At the start of last season Saints played a high press system and were knocking the ball about quickly for him to run on to, it was all a very RB style from Ralph. Then after they had had their standard fall off he changed the way they were playing and went more long ball and it didn't suit Broja and he just drifted through games getting odd touches here and there and Adams was probably their better striker.

Players like Lukaku are the anomaly though, not the other way around. Very rare you will get a kid built like Lukaku with that ability at that age.
 

We’ve seen enough dubious ‘strikers’ at the club down the years to know that chances that Maupay is the answer are less than 50%

Not a position you want to be in when you’re in the bottom 3.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure he was scoring from day one. Can't be bothered to check but think he got a hat trick on his home debut for Southampton

Yeah effectively. Maupay has pretty much replaced Tosun. McNeill has replaced Siggurdson’s role. We probably need the Richarlison option who can play across the front because one injury to Gray or Gordon and we’re looking at McNeill or Iwobi on the flanks.

Nahhh, not having this. Maupay is here to play. Even if DCL is playing Maupay can play that attacking/winger role.

Maybe, I just can’t see a player like Broja or another up and coming number 9 join the club knowing that if DCL is fit they’re not playing. He’s arguably got more of a chance of playing at Chelsea given they don’t have a striker on their books.

Totally agree mate. It was meant a little tongue in cheek as we have known since last summer we would need to replace him. Still four days left though

Lukaku was a freak as a teenager. It would be unthinkable to get a striker who scored 17 goals in England the previous season on loan now. Still seems insane that Chelsea did that deal.
