can someone tell me are we still hamstrung with ffp when it comes to the budget for transfers this summer? i see us linked with players for 40/50m but i'm guessing this is just lazy journalism as because of ffp we can't spend very much
We need to sell to buy.

If we sell Richarlison and Mina, we could have a budget o say £60k - £75k

I’m no expert, it’s only from things I’ve read and and heard on podcasts.

But I also hear some bizarre takes.
Only yesterday on twitter I read that it will be loans and frees for the next few years because we have 300mil to pay back ? and we sell richarlison and DCL and one of the fees will go back into the club to help the finances. I’m not sure it works like that,
Weren’t overdrawn, we’re just a business running on a loss like loads of other football clubs. Do you think Newcastle will be in profit over the next few years? Having a billionaire owner doesn’t really change much.Long term obviously the club doesn’t want to lose a 100m every year, I’ve hear this season just gone our loss is 79mil and wages would have dropped loads over the last 12months.

Forget the sale for one minute, but moshiri probably wants to fix this over a number of years not 12months, while trying to Keep us competitive and the ground should also help.
It’s all about staying inside the rules of P&S and with it being a 3yr rolling process, we eventually should be back on a good footing.
Richarlison, DCL, Pickford maybe all sold in the next 2 summers. Add in the older player on high wages leaving in that time, if not sold. Mina, Coleman, Gomes, gbamin, Allan, doucoure. Townsend, rondon. 2 x goalkeepers

With clever recruitment, free, Loans and young exciting players bought, we should be a very good position to kick on, the summer we Move into BMD.

Regarding the rumour about Nunes, it probably is rubbish. But if he cost 40mil and was on 80k a week, that’s basically 12mil on our books next year. Gylfi, tosun and delph. Saves us 30mil next year when their contracts end next week. I’m not saying we will spend money, but if we do raise a 100+ from sales, we will have plenty of room to manoeuvre, if the clubs what’s to spend.

If we somehow pass the P&S test at the end of June this year, the next financial year (season 22/23) will be replacing the 112M loss on the accounts from 18/19... and it will be near enough impossible to repeat that for 22/23 just due to the cost cutting that has gone on.

So from a regulatory point of view, the next two weeks are vital- in that if we need to make a sale to comply with FFP then we do it... because from July 1st it becomes a much more comfortable ground for us in terms of P&S.

All this of course assumes we wont be under some sort of Premier league control for incomings and outgoings... and that the actual owners whoever they may be decide to allow spending.

O Jogo saying we’re sending officials over to Lisbon for Nunes like this year is some crazy repeat of last year. They’ll be reporting he’s in Liverpool for a medical again next

Not sure what you are trying to say mate. I don't particularly want to argue but the link is to an opinion piece from a now defunct legal firm from Eastern Europe and there will be differing jurisdictional issues in plain contract law setting aside FIFA Regs.

If your point is that Richarlison could breach his contract and pay the remainder up and then appear at another team I disagree.

If your point is that he can tear up his contract and he and his new team would be liable for compensation not limited to the terms of his contract and potential sporting sanctions then I would agree with you.

Even if you look at the article it summarises as follows (the but is important):-.

A player may unilaterally and prematurely terminate the contract even without just cause, exercising his fundamental right of freedom of movement, though simultaneously violating Article 13 of FIFA Regulations and principle of pacta sunt servanda, but from another side he will be subject to severe consequences for such termination (compensation and sporting sanctions) available under Article 17.

In the CAS Summary its suggested that compensation could be the costs of replacing that player with add ons.

In other words the new team or Richarlison could be liable personally for his value on the open market. A further issue is that if he were to join a Premier League side he would be in direct competition with us and accordingly there is an arguable case for an injunction under domestic law. If we were in Europe competition then conceivably it could also be extended to a specific European competition.

So yes, he could but it would get very messy indeed for him and could be ruinous. For any team that he signs for it could be messy and more expensive than a transfer and they may be deprived of his services for a period of time.

With the world cup nearly on us Richarlison would have to be very badly advised to take that route.

We don't hear about it a lot because of the above but the Webster ruling, with respect, related to a player of low value in relative terms and therefore the compensatory element would have been very low. It's therefore more applicable to easily replaceable players which correlates with the general employment contract law position.
