And the difficulty is obviously going to be which players can we sell. I struggle to see Keane going but Mina and James could be quite marketable.

It's also worth saying, 20m for Mina will probably be a pretty nice profit. I believe we signed for 28, but he's 3/5ths into a contract, so again that would show up a a 12m profit. That could allow you to buy the equivalent of a 50m player if you can spread the fees across 4 years.

Why wouldn't Keane go. Generally speaking Everton's defence did well last year. It was up front and midfield where we were let down. Both Keane and Mina will have many suitors, the former in the Premier league and the latter around Europe too. Many were surprised when Keane didn't make the England quad of 33 and he's still only 28. Mina is just 26. Two good CBs in their prime.

I would love us to get Ben White for £50m because I think he's a terrific CB and would make a great partnership with Godfrey for both England and Everton, and price wise £50m is not his ceiling. But if we don't get him I'm happy with the central defenders we have. That position is not our problem.

Premier League side Everton have deployed scouts to monitor the progress of 19-year-old striker Josh Sargent, who currently plays for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

Werder Bremen were relegated and they just sold Rashica to Norwich. Rumors are Sargent will be next.

Would be a nice boost for the American pre-season tour.

I saw it mate, I just don't think Coutinho is the type of player we need even if James does go. I don't think he's anywhere near as good really and think we'd just be getting another injury prone 28/29-year-old.

I wasn't aware his injuries were that bad before this latest knee injury. If he was fit (as in not been out for the last 6 months) he likely would have been in the Brazilian squad for the Copa.

We know he can be effective in the Premier League and just because he didn't fit in at Barcelona doesn't mean he couldn't do a job for us. We really are devoid of attacking flair without James. I'd much prefer we kept James like.

Said before, there aren't too many players like this around that do it consistently, especially in the Premier.

2nd striker or right wing. He did score 12 goals in Rafas last season at Newcastle.

Not saying he's an automatic every match day, just think he would prove to be a good bench option with the possibility of growing into more.
