Everton Summer transfers 2021

Everything will depend on whether Benitez plays on the front foot (no Keane and possibly Mina) or continues the more 'safety first' approach.

On the surface when looking at replacing DCL we could either move Richarlison centrally (as @Tree13 suggests) or sign a replacement such as Vlahovic (as @nonstripdzebra mentions).

Ordinarily id be open to both ideas but I think theres something to be said about having young England internationals in the team.

In fact, i think we should be looking at the spine of the team in Pickford, Godfrey and DCL. We should extend all three of their contracts to 5 years and build the team around them.

As @Tree13 says, if we could sell Mina and Keane and bring in enough for White then id do that. Id also not hesitate about £30mil for Aarons either.

A back 5 of, Pickford--Digne/Godfrey/White/Aarons looks on paper like a top 6 foundation. Four of those players could be playing together for well over 5 years for both Everton and England.

I was laughed at the other day but i dont see why (if we signed those two) we wouldnt at least try for Rice or Phillips (or even Bellingham) who may be enticed due to money (obviously) but also playing with our young England players.

Pickford Godfrey White DCL -- there cant be many more teams with 4 young England players...with perhaps Aarons making the breakthrough.

Ive not seen a minute of the euros and have always felt that the very top sides from years back until recently would have a nuclus of international 'local' players -- Bayern, Arsenal, United, Barca etc...

--Aside from that then Id be after players like Kamara £25mil and Bailey £40mil to add some flavour...tbh theres alot of young players attainable at the moment who would improve us.

France and Brazil have some tasty players in the olympics.
Just dont think we could get any of the three cm with rice basically waiting to go to chelsea still , phillips think leeds would ask for too much maybe even up to 60/60 and bellingham with dortmund having sold sancho will hold onto him now. Think we could get a better deal for cm like you said with kamara who could grow into the team with allan dacoure. Wouldnt be surprised to see us go back in for arrons.

Basically just think Richarlison has stagnated and should be moved before he's 26 and the same player but at that point no one believes they can make more of him. And from a standpoint of what we need a winger who can both get us up the field and create a little fits.

Hes 24 and coming off a poor season...i think the major concern is that he only has 3 years on his contract.

If anything we should extend it and if were planning to sell it should be in 12months time off a good season...hopefully.

I dont think you sell him though as hes a top inside forward.

Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes available for €30million. 18yr old CM, exactly what we need.
Massive sell on potential.

€30mil ? Where did you see that --i know hes only got a year left but thats a bargain.

if true then he and Kamara are the same price and both would have massive upside.

Yeah its unlikely but i think we should lockdown Aarons and White and at least make an attempt for them. Rice i think would be a united signing, dont think he fits chelsea. Phillips is a leeds boy so tricky but if Moshiri wants the instant impact he claims...

If not then Kamara and others like him, even Kessie who only has a year left.

I'm not really concerned with his season being poor so much as him being the exact same player he was in the fall of 2018. If he's also going to make pretty open suggestions that he doesn't want to be here then fine, off he goes. Hudson-Odoi would be a fantastic option as a replacement imo. I'd be interested even if Richarlison is staying.

Not going to question you in terms of information but where would Richarlison go? Who has the money and will to spend about £60m on him?
well there wont be many clubs, but it could be a big merry go round: like Inter Milan now loaded becasue of selling that right back to PSG etc. Hope Richarlison doesnt spit the dummy and wants out at all costs. He may be better staying 1 more season, be more consistent then clubs have recovered a bit more from the Covid financial impact.

I'd take Phillips for £60m without hesitation. He's an excellent player who would slot in to a position of urgent need (DM) as a day one starter. He's Prem proven, ticks the Home Grown box and allows our two best existing MFs to concentrate on box-to-box play. At 25 years old he is just now coming into his prime and to see him in royal blue for the next three to five seasons would be a massive upgrade for us.

Obviously I'd rather pay less, but £60m would not be overpriced. The issue would be that unless we sell Kean for £40m+ it's hard to see how we drum up the cash because we need to spend around £80m on a RW, a LW and a RB too.

I appreciate the way you've posed the question, rather than simply stating (as some others have) that we should sell DCL for whatever we can get and then just hope we can find a replacement.

If it were my decision, I would replace DCL as our starting CF with someone already in the squad: Richarlison. I would spend the money on upgrading the wide positions, because those players are slightly cheaper and there's more of them around. I've mentioned them before, but I'd be in for Pereira from WBA and Olise from Reading even if DCL was staying. If he went, I'd move Richarlison to CF and look to bring in Bailey (Laverkusen), Pereira and Olise to play out wide.

With regard to your final paragraph, and the question about other assets: I would part with the ones that help me fund / provide squad space for better replacements. A good example is the repeated mentions of Ben White from Brighton: he seems expensive at £50m, but if we were to sell Michael Keane for £20m and Yerry Mina for £25m then we'd be selling two assets at the right time (in terms of their remaining contract lengths and current wages) and bringing in a better (when compared to Keane) player who is more likely to be fit to play 40 games a season (in comparison to Mina, who picks up a worrying number of minor niggly injuries), for a net spend of £5m, whilst also reducing the wage bill.
Richarlison can't play centre forward. We tried it and it's really not his role. Buying 1 good young centre half and then selling all of your experience is insane. Keep 1 at least.

Inter are selling because they desperately need money. They aren't loaded from that sale. It's why Conte stomped out.

Not looking to argue with you, but doesn't Richarlison play CF for Brazil?

Godfrey and Holgate have enough Prem experience IMHO. And it's not like Ben White currently plays in the New Zealand domestic league... Look, Mina misses too many games with injury and if we do extend his contract despite this, then Keane HAS to go because you can't have Mina AND Keane both earning king's ransoms - we need to get the wage bill under control. How about Keane and £25m (spread over 4 to 5 years) to Brighton in order to secure White - you'd take that, surely?

He doesn't play as a traditional 9 and this is the worst Brazil in years. Besides, we've seen that he can't play as a CF in the premiership.

I'd have no objection to selling Mina or Keane and the 25m exchange is something I mentioned a while back. My concern is losing too much experience. Holgate went backwards last season and Godfrey has loads of potential but isn't seasoned as an EPL centre back. Besides, 2 out and 1 in leaves us short IMO.
