He did better than that, he put the ball in the back of the net

Marc Hottiger did the same for Switzerland...

He also wasnt able to cross or pass well.

Think of their club equivalents in the Premier League, Zat. For example, I'd have Macedonia down as the Sheffield United of last season. Guess what happened to us v Sheffield United at home last season? We barely beat them away! The more players we sign that turn up against the "lesser" teams, the better.

Ive changed my mind...

Ukraine / City (Zinchenko)
Macedonia / Chelsea (near Russia lol)
Austria / Leicester (Fuchs)

Clearly the boy is indeed world class...an under the rader 25 year old PSV captain available for £14mil.

Our scouts must be the best in the world...

Never mind Sheff Utd, he's the missing piece of the jigsaw...the Tony Thomas, Mitch Ward or perhaps even John O'Kane to push us into a new dawn lol

Seriously though, im so annoyed at this signing its almost certainly going to mean he does really well...

Steve Bruce is notorious for his teams having a lot of injuries.
Oh right. So no actual stats to back it up.

Probably worthwhile saying that despite the "50% more injuries" Bruce has done a very similar job to Benitez at Newcastle in terms of points and positions - what do you attribute that to?

Any news on our incomings and outgoings - feel free to very specfic

I mean hes not world class, I dont think anybody has even suggested that have they?

If you want world-class you need to buy Hakimi from PSG.

There arent a great deal of world class right backs currently in the game.

That's not really their main role though is it. Their job is to get the ball to the attacking players.
not their main role but the position they play is support the back line, support the forwards and chip in with a decent amount of goals each otherwise we rely to much on the front 2 or 3 and if they have a bad run like DCL had then we will struggle, we need everyone to chip in at some time.

Wouldn't the definition of world class not inherently adjust itself to suit the current crop, though? Just like being "world champion" in anything, I suppose. You can only beat what's out there in your time.

What I've seen of Dumfries - and I hold my hands up to that purely being Euro 2020 - was enough to make me think "we've got no chance of signing him now." So I'd be delighted if we get this over the line. He's a totally different type of fullback to Digne, but I like the thought of that asymmetry.

Have you seen him play for PSV?

Have you seen him for Holland against a good team?

Id rather take a gamble on a highly rated 18 year old than flush £14mil+ down the toilet on a player we'll be wanting to sell within 2 seasons.
Will have to hold you to that i wouldnt mind both we need aomebody to come in now at rb and looks like he has the qualities we lack

Yeah, the definition of world class is weird, I mean it means best in the world in your position, top 5, but I am the same, all ive seen of him was the Euros.

The lad gets up that wing like a monster tho and thats what we need.

The Premier League is a great league, but aside from 5 or 6 teams, you dont need world class players across the park to beat the rest.

Yes thats it. He's not world class, as in lots of ways Digne isn't world class (though he's very close) but he's a very strong left back. If we can get someone Digne level, for 15m who's just turned 25 and fits what we need thats good enough for me. We built a team full of players like that under David Moyes who were regularly in the top 6.

He gives us the mobility we need.

I honestly thought he was 27 for some reason.
