Everton Summer transfers 2021

Nobody has a clue who Everton are signing mate.

Nobody who click bait in the media.

Nobody on this forum.

It's been a closed shop since Brands turned up.

There you go - may as well log off - saved you loads of time there.
Need to rename the thread then ,don’t you “mate”

Are we?

Who?

How much have we spent on this unsustainable model?

Keep changing manager? Benitez is the second appointment - the second free agent - we've made since Brands has been on the board - it wasn't his fault Ancelotti bailed.

How much was Allan?
How much was James?

Now, how much was Godfrey. A player Ancelotti admitted he hadn't heard of;

"He has surprised me because I didn’t know him so well [when he signed]. He was a signing from the club, from our scouts, and he has been really good"

Ben Godfrey cost more than Allan and James, combined.

Is that a passive DoF, who is only activating the whims of the manager?

How much was Doucoure - a player we tried to sign under Silva, before Ancelotti?

Doesn't really fit with the criticism here that Brands is only signing players the manager wants, and that it's unsustainable.

Who else did we sign under Ancelotti? Nkounkou? King? Where those a weak DoF just reacting to managerial transfers too? lol

There's plenty to beat Marcel Brands with - making excuses for him that he isn't responsible, or accountable, isn't one of them.

I can never say with 100% certainty, but I'd be extremely surprised if we had signed James without Ancelotti, or Townsend without Benitez.

I don't support the DOF model because I think it create uncertainty in where responsibility lies. But if you are going to go with a DOF, then you have to go all in. You will never get anywhere with this dual approach of manager and DOF both having to agree.

I'd much rather go back to what we did before Walsh was appointed as the first DOF. But Brands is here so he needs to be the only voice in recruitment that matters.

What's wrong with a manager, who a DOF works to appoint, having input into transfers?

The uncertainty is from fans.

Is there any football club in the top flight who don't operate with a DOF model?

Can you name any? I can't...

All DOF models are collaborative.

All DOF, and managers will say they won't bring a player in without joint approval.

And I think it is.

The DOF has a manager with views, just like he has an entire scouting department with views.
