Thanks mate.

Not sure about that regression mate, looks to me Smith has an eye for a player, I’m really impressed with the squad he’s put together and business he’s doing, Season on season incremental improvements, that’s how you do it. I suspect now you might be more be sustainable and less reliable on Grealish fitness.

Ings is a very clever buy. I wanted him here. Surprised you didn’t go Tammy, but maybe asking for trouble between him and Watkins, when you consider that dynamic Ings is perfect. Watkins I expect to have a big year, bigger then a very good one last year.
Thanks, yes, I expected Tammy but I read we didn't want to pay his 130k a week wage demands. It is very difficult to buy players for teams like us who are trying to break into the top 6. You can't get proper top 4 players but u want players that can push u up there that can then be upgraded if u manage to break the glass ceiling

Above all else mate you need goals, both Watkins and Ings are capable of high double figures. It’s something many PL struggle with having two strikers who are capable of that in squads. Great bit of business.

It's a big fee and contract. I wouldn't be happy if we spent £25m on Ings, for example.

But, Villa have money to spend and goals go a long way for a side rebuilding after selling a key player. If Ings stays fit, he pretty much guarantees 10-15 league goals, so in that sense, it's a very good addition.

They've definitely overpaid, but I'd rather have overpaid for Ings than Iwobi, I suppose.

Anyway, we were never gonna be in for Ings. We just need a right-back (we need more, obviously) but right now, the priority has to be a right-back.

We've had three years for it. It should have been done as soon as the window opened, we've known for ages what we needed. That didn't change because Carlo left, either.

You were only talking about Ings to Everton last night. What you think of the price? Have you seen much of Liam Scales seen hes Celtic bound 600000.

I am very happy with Ings. There is no resale value but for 25m if he scores 15 goals a season for the next few years that is very good value. It also gives us much need backup. We only play 1 striker up front so it will be interesting to see how / where he fits in. Maybe Watkins out wide but either way it is excellent strength in depth which is something we were lacking

It’s the dynamic of the front two, I think is excellent, which is why I wanted Ings. It’s very hard to keep two strikers happy, we struggled ourselves with Kean and DCL, Spurs have struggled for years finding a second striker for Kane, Chelsea have struggled, arguably City, Arsenal etc. It’s the hardest thing in squad building in the PL in my opinion, but you need it. Have a good 1, but a high quality two, without rocking the boat I think Villa have managed it Ings is the perfect no 2. 15-20 games a season, impact sub, great signing. If they’d signed Tammy they were on a hiding to nothing as both would want to start.

25 mill, is a high fee, with likely no resale, but it’s how you value that role. PL goals are invaluable, Villa I think I’m right in saying only had young Davies as a back up for Watkins. The other way you have to look at it is, is he worth 25 mill to Southampton, probably worth a lot more to them. But his contract was running down and he would have left for free.
