Everton Summer transfers 2021

Exactly, so signing for 6 years with someone like levy/spurs was incredibly dumb
Hardly incredibly dumb. There are benefits to the player too. He probably doubled his salary at the time and had the security of a 6 year contract. But things changed in the last 3 years and Kane has become the best striker in the world. Time to reassess the situation by all parties. Spurs make a huge profit on the player and Kane can go and win some silverware before his career ends in a few years time

I would say naive. He likely had a very good relationship with Levy and was overly trusting that he would grant him his wish taking into account playing his guts out over 7 seasons for a team that won as much silverware as us over that period of time.
I agree with naive rather than stupid. It's not like Zaha signing a long new contract which basically sealed his fate. You have to remember that in 2018 when he signed his new contract Spurs finished 3rd, having finished 2nd the season before and seemed to be building stuff. Quite literally as well in terms of their stadium. Following year they got to the Champions League final so the new deal seemed to make sense at that point. Then the wheels completely fell off, Pochettino was sacked and Mourinho continued the slide.

I think in 2018 he genuinely will have thought he could win stuff with Spurs. But that Spurs team is a long way off from the team they are today.

Since everyone likes to talk about Harry Kane.
What if he signed long term contract because he doesn't want to leave and wanna be a one club man but the club decides to sell him for big money?
Can we still call him a disgrace or not?
Can he protest because he doesn't want to move? lol

Pretty much sums up this transfer window and my expectations for the remainder of it

We have approx 40 mil to spend currently, but this deal is heavily incentives based and the cost will be spread over a few years.

This has been the talk for several weeks to be fair, around 40M + sales...

If we did have £40mil to spend then i imagine thats not only downpayments this summer but the total fee over a deal.

Again, if this was true it would mean that:

A: We are trying to shift players out before bringing quality in.

B: We are feigning poverty with the plan of sweeping up players at heavily discounted prices at the end of the window.

Its a good plan in theory.

A future Kane or zaha will no way ever sign such a lengthy contract without some kind of release clause. You just don’t see levy bowing to pressure from a player when he’s got three years left on his contract so he’s screwed and next summer Harland and mbappe will enter the market making him less attractive.

We have done the above the last two seasons and have finished 8th and 10th?

Good plan you say?

Apologies; you are correct.

In theory, though we could be winning the Premier League this season.

But we won't...

Well it is a good plan, in theory.

In reality weve got Marcel Brands and Benitez signing players.

Again, in reality weve signed Begovic, Gray and Townsend...look like were trying to shift out best player and have several Brands signings who seemingly he cant sell.

Theres going to have to be a monumentally impressive last 3 weeks of the window for me to be excited about this season.

Im fickle though, if he signs Aarons and Antony i'll quickly change my mind.
