Most of us agree the priority is top class RB and RF.
But we also need young players coming through, particularly in certain positions.
I'm a believer in sticking with Davies. I don't think we need to bring in someone whose going to stop his progress
rather should be looking at someone who can push him on. A young player that can step up in if Davies or Allan are injured and go on to push for a first team place. We are sadly lacking this type of thing that the bigger clubs have
One lad I've started following is Abdou Harroui. In a preview by Football Oranje on the dutch under 21squad for the euros Harroui is described as:
One of the most underrated players in the Eredivisie, Harroui has been a star for Sparta Rotterdam over the past two seasons and deservedly earns a spot in the Jong Oranje squad. A defensive midfielder, Harroui is one of the best tacklers and readers of the game in the Eredivisie, and can score goals. In 93 appearances for Sparta, Harroui has 17 goals and 11 assists. He has nine caps for Netherlands U21’s, scoring once. The tournament could be a shop window for the midfielder.
He's currently valued at 3.5m on transfermarket and that'll likely go up after the euros..
He plays half his games as a CM but is being groomed in the DM role.
There has been major faults running through the development of attacking dutch footballers for some time and there is only starting to be a turn around now and as yet still isn't bearing fruit; on the other hand the defensive side of dutch football has come to the fore with plenty of high quality centre backs coming through. Starting to emerge now is the defensive midfielders with Frenkie De Jong (23), Gravenbach (18) and Koopmeiners (23) leading the charge. I can see Harroui (23) developing to become part of the next wave. Could probably add Ludovit Reis in that u21 squad to the wave, also worth having a look at as he needs to find the right club (loaned out from Barca at the moment)
One thing Everton desperately need is midfielders who are defensively positioned who can also hold onto the ball for periods to encourage movement in front, while having the vision/passing range to match. I think Allan and Davies fit that mould but we need at least a player pushing them. The following clip focuses on his attacking side of his game.
I don't know much outside the eredivisie re young players. Any good comparisons out there
