Looking at Transfermarkt he's mainly a RB who can play CDM and CB

I like the player, but his wages at Chelsea are enormous. I don't know if we can afford him permanently. That's the problem with the squad players at the very top clubs. They are on huge wages and it makes them hard for clubs to sign. There is no real value for a club like us.

Most places say he's on 120k a week which although at the top end is in the range of what we can afford. I feel like his wages have almost taken on this mythical life where people think he's on 300k a week because every post someone brings up that he's making a lot.
