You can opt for the likes of a Jebbison, but there's very little chance he'll be anywhere near as effective coming off the bench as Rondón, whose strong hold-up play whilst at Newcastle made him the focal point of the team.

Sorting a loan with his wages subsidised somewhat, or a short-term deal for a negligible fee, and we'll have a very competent deputy (à la Begovic, Townsend) - someone who knows his place in the squad (so won't upset the apple cart) and who will offer something different when called upon.

It’s horses for courses, and currently apart from Dom we have nobody who fits our system as the #9. Tosun is turbo gash, Kean is on his way out, and Richie is more of a second striker. If it’s on loan or on a short term deal ie a year with an option for a second, that’s fine by me.

Rondon as back up to DCL in the league and starting cup games is good. We want a cheap player with a similar profile to DCL and has experience.

Not a signing that gets the juices flowing but I guess he has enough credit in the bank with signings so far.
