I think the fact Gordon hasn’t gone out on loan shows that Benitez rates him as at least an option if we don’t get anyone else in. Carlo was clearing the decks of players last season even when we didn’t have any backup options such as his low opinion of some of them.

Shaping up to be a typical Everton transfer window, lots of time chasing players who don’t want to come to play for us and then a mad scramble to get someone in. It’s deja vu all over again!
