Not really wee man. I’ll never be annoyed that a lad wants to play football and better himself, when he came back after achieving in Germany I would have said to him, your my man, instead we player trade for Iwobi, i know which one I think was more impactful this season. Woeful decision making.

I find the take on him really sad and lacking depth to be honest, he did nothing Kieran Dowell didn’t do and two very separate reactions by fans influenced by journos who don’t understand the game to begin with.

Think the club, DOF, manager etc were stupid to sell him to be honest, just like sending Moise out on loan last season, but let me guess he was lazy and wanted out too..defo no pattern to be identified there.....

Its a boring cyclical arguemant at this stage that’s trotted out this time of year.

Very good player, we shouldn’t target players like him and Moise we can’t/don’t develop them. Delph and Iwobi, just add water to achieve average is our comfort zone.
I agree that the Iwobis and Delphs of the world should be steered well clear of and target the Lookmans, Keans & Vlasic's etc. but what can we do when they want to leave unless they are starters? Obvious talents but getting demanding at that age is a bit much, if they were proving it in training or in their cameos they'd get the starts they want. Not sure what the answer to it is really. I want hungry young talented players that get games but surely there needs to be patience on their side too no? We are a Premier league club after all

I don’t think we should target them to be honest, we’ve abandoned developing talents, if we can’t make players out of Kean and Lookman, who have obvious quality. We’re just reapeating an unhealthy cycle. We failed developing them.

Look at this way, we sold Lookman, bought Iwobi. Sent Kean out last season and brought in King. That’s just woeful. We’ve seen both be successful elsewhere. Yet the problem is the players? Maybe the problem is us. We certainly need quality impactful footballers like those two.

To answer your question you need to be brave. You need to write of a couple of seasons, you need to stick the Gordon’s, Branthwaites etc in the team and say we’re building a team with you lads and going to add to it. Stick with a manger wiling to do it for three years, add to it incrementally, verge away from a King profile etc. That’s what say a Villa are doing, they were no where two years ago, they have an enviable squad there now. Dean Smith is building there. We havent and aren’t and haven’t built or developed players in years if we’re all being honest.

Spot on this - we’ve got to give the manager time and back him in the transfer market to build something. We keep trying to shortcut our way to challenging near the top - won’t happen that way

No argument here about those decisions when you put it like that. It is a woeful exchange.
I'd happily take a couple of mediocre seasons for a rebuild. We get them anyway when we try to cut corners. If the fan base could get behind that kind of project, knowing we'll struggle at times it could be great. We seem to be a club in no mans land for a long time. Definitely need a new way of thinking and acting. I think you're right
