I don’t think we should target them to be honest, we’ve abandoned developing talents, if we can’t make players out of Kean and Lookman, who have obvious quality. We’re just reapeatjng an unhealthy cycle. We failed developing them.
Look at this way, we sold Lookman, bought Iwobi. Sent Kean out last season and brought in King. That’s just woeful. We’ve seen both be successful elsewhere. Yet the problem is the players, maybe the problem is us. We certainly need quality impactful footballers like those two.
To answer your question you need to be brave. You need to write of a couple of season, you need to stick the Gordon’s, Branthwaite etc in the team and say we’re building a team with you lads and going to add to it. Stick with a manger wiling to do it for three years, add to it incrementally, verge away from a King profile etc. That’s what say a Villa are doing, they were no where two years ago, they have an enviable squad there. Dean Smith is building there. We havent and aren’t and haven’t built or developed players in years if we’re all being honest.
