Everton Summer transfers 2021

If the club was well set up the manager we hire would fit the strategy we're already following with our signings.

that’s the problem tho isn’t it ? We are poorly run . On paper it looks like it should work but we have a DOF that seems to have no input into which manager we hire , a potential manager that is apparently not allowed to pick his own playing staff and must agree to have Dunc on his back room staff, a chairman that has no power as he doesn’t own the club , an owner that apparently is taking orders from usmanov, and the DOF and manager don’t seem to ever agree on who we should be targeting regarding playing staff

It’s always an odd criticism of Brands. He literally can’t sell players for below their book value even if he wanted to as it crystallises our losses which go straight into the negative column for FFP and means less money for our transfer fund. That’s why we see so many loans, it’s getting players off the wage bill whilst their contracts run down, then when their market value is higher than their book value they can be sold and we’ve got the profit for FFP and also saved on wages during this period.

The likes of Bolasie is a prime example. If we pay 30 mill for him on a 5 year deal, will someone give us more than 18 mill after two years with us which he’s spent injured with an ACL? Will they give us 12 mill after 3 years? What about 6 mill after 4? Maybe, but even then the clubs who might be interested in an over 30 player who has lost his pace due to injury and hasn’t played properly in years like Boro for example probably don’t have over 6 million to give us. Therefore we end up keeping him out on loan until his contract expires meaning we keep his wages off the book and we don’t record an FFP loss.

It’s all Brand’s fault though for not just selling players better.

True.

However, there are some players I think he could have sold when they were at their peak value. Instead weve kept them on (even given extensions) when we could have generated FFP book profit.

Aside from Vlasic and Lookman who has he actually sold ?

Then surely some of the players he has signed could also have been sold at an FFP profit -- or else why did he sign them?

is there a seldom used player we could get from PSG that's good in the deal?

They have a couple of defenders who havent done so well there + some kids coming through.

But their squad is pretty light outside of the first 11 in terms of players who could benefit us

If PSG dont stump up the money then he should stay here. The reason other clubs get top dough for their highly rated players is they drive a hard bargain.

We'll drop our kecks and probably take a loan again.

Depends on how much the loan fees are.

We paid £22.5mil rising to £25mil for him.

If we brought in £5mil (lets say) as his loan fee last summer and we can get £10mil loan fee this summer then we'd have paid £7.5mil for him.

Next year his book value will be £10mil and so if we sold him then it could benefit us more...

What if we finish top 6 and he comes back next season as a top forward who starts?

….Benitez not Rafael.

Precisely.

Elected..he's not going to be the pope :)

The RS parade from years back depicted him as the pope didnt it?

Has this been posted yet? Never heard of him. That said, he comes from the same youth system as Bellingham.

EDIT: Just read the tweet again and it seems like Leeds have already signed him. Oh well, at least we're looking.

I am, every manager we have had has seen this squad previously, we have a DoF who's remit should be dealing with things like this yet lots if them are still hre.

Sure I appreciate its not really a sellers market and some of our players are hard to move due to contract sizes etc, but still this work should be done.

Genuinely hold 0 optimism for the new season at the moment. I think with Benitez there its going to be a really hard long slog playing worse football than we did under Carlo.
Benitez knows the league and I would guess that he already has a good knowledge of our players.
I am guessing that Ferguson and Baines will form part of his staff so there will be extra knowledge there as well.
I have always regarded Benitez as cold and ruthless and for this job where he will get no initial benefit of the doubt from the fans he needs to get it right straight away.
I think players will find themselves out of the loop at Everton very quickly this summer.

What is key to everything is the transfer activity and the budget available to the manager.
Will he have the funds to make the signings we know are needed to make the team competitive.

If we are able to make three or four good signings then I think we could have a good season.

Either way the manager will be given time to get it right by Moshiri in spite of what some on here think.
He is going against public opinion with this appointment and will not want it to fail.

Apparently Rafael has asked for Demiral from Juventus and Rondon on a free.

Hi mate, considering this was in the paper the other day you’re clearly full of [Poor language removed]

Ancelotti brings Allan and James...

Benitez brings Rondon lol

I like Demiral, but Juventus are nudging him out as hes had 5 or 6 injuries. We need someone to partner Godfrey every match.
