Starting our window off with Mata and Begovic would be brilliant.

Mata is one of the best players in the league and would definitely be a signing that would make people take notice. I know that people have some obsession with German keepers, but Begovic is proven in the league and is in the next tier down from the likes of De Gea/Courtois (out of our reach by some distance). He's also a huge presence (6'6") which is something we haven't had with Howard.

I'm really hoping that we can convince Rom, Ross and Stones to stay put. The likes of Mata, Begovic and a 2 other players of the same quality alongside what we currently have could get us far.

Schneiderlin or Witsel added to those two would be ideal.

This squad needs to big clear out and that starts with the likes of McCarthy, Cleverley etc. They aren't good enough for top 4 teams currently, and I'd much rather sell them for £25m combined than Stones for £40m.

Completely agree would much rather sign a few top class quality players & shift the deadwood even if it means having a smaller squad. The kids can flesh out the squad
