Ok good point to be fair, but who could we sign who's better than lukaku? I don't believe anyone. Therefore for me berahino is one of the best we could get

Imagine the 'let's not be so gobby' shrink, having to deal with them?

So the shouldn't sign players in Messi's position?

Might not seem smart if he gets hurt. Or tired.

As I said before. The only time you should look to sign back up players is when you already have the best player possible in that position

In this case messi is obviously the best, therefore whoever you sign isn't going to be as good..

I hate the word back up. Any manager who signs a player as a back up is an idiot. For me you should only sign players who are better than what you have, therefore demoting the ones you have.. To back up

Otherwise what's the point, signing someone who's not as good as what you have

Sometimes you sign players, not because they're better than what you have, but because they give you the ability to switch systems as they're a different style of player.

That's exactly what made Spurs miss out on both the league AND 2nd. Their bench wasn't that good which they are rectifying so far this window to good effect.

Or you buy the best you can afford or attract for the positions required, which in our case would be a 'back up' striker as I think we don't have the budget or appeal to attract somebody better than lukaku, once we've signed our other, higher priority positions.

So Jags has a hamstring injury, Stones is off leaving us with very limited options at centre half. No idea how bad Jags' is but I still think we could do with 2 quality centre backs after Stones has been sold.

Exactly and neither is ours

Far too many weak back ups, Kone Gibson McGeady Niasse etc etc

Don't know how legit this is but heard of someone at the club yesterday that its been doing the rounds at Finch Farm that Lukaku has been offered a new contract with a release clause which would only be active to non English clubs playing in the champions league.

They also said it was possible that Stones was offered something Similar (however said this was not certain) as representives of both players have been having various meetings/conference calls to resolve the possible sagas.

As I said before I can't confirm this as 100% so I would take it with a huge pinch of salt but wouldn't surprise me if true as it is a tool that is used by most of the top clubs in Europe to ensure they can still compete domestically.
