Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Think you're missing my point I understands there's a big need to sell an asset or generate revenue via another vehicle. I was just questioning the need to have to sell him first.

could be as simple as if we buy first then clubs will realise we have a need to sell or risk penalties which would influence their bids maybe?

Would love Leno going to be a top keeper, but no way is he coming here. It is very hard for us to get top players in, remember we have won nothing in over 20yrs and had 2 bottom half finishes.
We are going to pay over the odds for good players that's the way it is, when we are top 4 thats when we will be able to get top class players. Martinez has a lot to answer for he has left the club in a mess.

Van der sar to fulham?

Any transfers will happen, while I'm away on holiday. That's in the UK. Seriously though I think part of the hold up , was Ronald wanted to have a look at the players he already has before he buys, added with the Euro's meaning players come back late. Makes sense really.

If we sell Stones (£50m) and Lukaku (£50-60m) then assuming our current budget comes close to £100m (with new owner plus TV deal it should do) then the last few weeks of the transfer window should be a blast.

I think the fact we have paid for Koeman and Walsh and that they have both cited the investment available, scale of ambition as big reasons for coming we should all relax on the question of availability of funds.

The issue is, as someone else noted, that Martinez left us in a mess. Everyone has money and we are in the third tier (not CL, not Europa League) for most players and agents so we are having to work bloody hard to convince players who have CL/EL alternatives that we are the right choice.

Convincing Koeman & Walsh helps. Good press for Moshiri helps. Talk of a stadium helps. Money helps. However, unless and until one 'name' player takes the plunge the reluctance to commit to us will be there, particularly with Lukaku and Stones still constantly linked with moves.

Blaming Witsel for his obvious lack of desire to come is silly. If you have an offer from Coca-Cola for £50k and great career prospects or an offer from Panda Cola for £60k and uncertain prospects many people would choose the CC offer.

We won't sign anyone until at least August.

We never do business at the weekend so that rules out today and tomorrow.

Monday we'll travel to down Milton Keynes, and Tuesday we'll play the friendly. Wednesday they'll fly to Germany. Thursday they'll go on a bike ride so no action then.
Friday and Saturday we're playing in the Dresdon Cup.
Sunday they'll fly back.

Things then might kick into gear the week after, but then again we've got two friendlies that week so don't hold your breath.

Er.... haven't we just appointed a DoF to do the buying stuff?

We're never going to be spending £210m on transfers. Sales or not.

A few thoughts this morning.

We either have not as much money as some presume and are waiting for the Stones sale and Sky money etc to come in.

Or the targets we have in mind are not available yet or undecided on there future.

Say we spend 90m 2x30m and 1x20m and 1x10m and sell Stones for 50m with a net 40m spend, would this be acceptable.

With every day that passes without any real significant signings makes you wonder if all the bravado and chest beating by our new regime may have been a bit of over enthusiasm and reality maybe somewhere in between our previous regime and the promises made at the takeover.

Very interesting 6 weeks ahead and I'm sure will let us know our true aspirations and directions.

Regardless of any of this COYB.
