Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Why are people talking about Tadic?

A - They wouldn't sell him
B - The fans I speak to down here reckon he blows so hot and cold I wouldn't even say he's worth the bother.

It just cropped up mate as we had that previous interest and he hasn't been getting gametime recently due to Koeman preferring a 3-5-2 system. It was purely a hypothetical.

Agree on the second point though I do think it was as much to do with opposition doubling up on him after last season - when he was fantastic. We have better attackers in general than Sotton so that wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Personally don't think we'd get him but he'd definitely improve us.

Tadic is not a winger though is he, strictly speaking?

He plays wide midfield - usually on the left - and cuts inside and creates.

Cleverley has been playing just that position in the last few months.

Martinez's system employs two wide midfielders who are given free reign to cut inside or stay out wide. Tadic would be perfect for the berth on the left.

You'd never really describe Pienaar as a 'winger', but his favoured position was left midfield...
Except for when he played everywhere else other than Everton, as he's nearly always been a central/attacking midfield playmaker.

If Moyes was still here Barkley would be playing the same role Pienaar was, nailed on.

Not at all.

Did he have any success at any of his clubs playing as a No.10? No, he didn't.

Pienaar was tailor-made for the role we needed him for and it's a role we've really missed in his absence. Cleverley has shown flashes of it but is more just a link up player and that's fine until we come up against a side we need to break down.

Watch our goals from the first season under RM. Pienaar is involved in loads.

I am aware we discovered him in that role, but he initially was a central player, and that's a role he kept and played quite well in (like a less strong Barkley) for years for South Africa and clubs before us.

More or less just saying we "discovered" his strength really lol and if anything Moyes started playing him there, and for a long time "Bainaar" was when all of our goals came from, literally.

Spot on mate.

We've missed an impact of a player who can play a similar role since Pienaar carried this spate of injuries and declined.

Personally I feel we could be looking to go out and get a real, true quality playmaker to play that role. A playmaker doesn't have to be a No.10...

Tadic isn't world class, no, but he is a quality playmaker and is proven in the Prem.

Bonaventura would be my shout as the ideal playmaker.

We may end up going for Yarmolenko, and I think that may actually see Lennon moved over to fill (rotating with Cleverley) that Pienaar role on the left.

I couldn't see Yarmolenko being anywhere as near as effective on the left than he is on the right, IMO...

He looks no different than a few others that came here via the Eredivise .
Wijnaldum ,Daley Blind and Memphis Depay spring to mind ...look great in Holland not sure about here tho.

would take wijnaldum, play him in all the goodison games, left out of the squad for away games. weird how he only plays well at sports direct.

As far as keepers are concerned as well I definitely think we should have an eye on Consigli at Sassuolo. Mentioned him a few times on here but he's absolutely superb. De Gea-esque with some of his saves at times.

He's just turned 29 so in his prime as a keeper. Would be a very good No.1/competition for Joel, and wouldn't cost much.

As good as the likes of Sommer, Butland, Leno etc.

Looks great playing for his country too....doesnt look right in the Prem tho.

I'd say that's harsh mate.

He's fine if he's given the freedom to stay up the pitch.

Ultimately he's by far the best player in a poor Newcastle side but he's definitely capable of playing in a better team.

His best position is advanced midfield, though, and I'd rather have Barkley there any day.

If Newcastle go down, I can still see Wijnaldum staying in the Prem, though - possibly at somewhere like Sotton or Stoke - perhaps even Leicester...

Oh he's a good player mate but games seem to pass him by in the prem.
He's had a few good games but the rest he's been non existant.
