Ancelotti loves Matty Longstaff.

Nobody is saying they want our players to get booked.

They're saying they want our players to show some commitment and passion, Iwobi most definitely doesn't show either of those things, and he most certainly does pull out of tackles whenever he gets the opportunity
No he doesn't. And the incidents people have used as examples were both occasions where sticking a leg out was nothing more than a foul and potentially a booking. He's and attacker and it isn't the end of the world if he gets beat occasionally.

Go ahead and lose your minds at this but Iwobi is a pretty decent pressing player which makes Marco not including him for the likes of Sigurdsson and Bernard even stranger.

Genuine question I'm not trying to be funny, have you ever actually played football (soccer)? Or just watched it on the TV?

Because a lot of your opinions read like someone who's never played the game ever. No offence.

I have played but I'm also not sure my experiences playing in a Sunday league level game mean anything in the professional game. And what specifically are you referencing? The not being bothered that attackers occasionally get beat while pressing?

Just a general feeling I have when reading your posts, like you've read a load of stats but dont actually know how it works in the practice.

If you think Iwobi is a decent tackler then I'm not sure we're watching the same sport tbh

Pressing does not equal tackling.

Nor does being bad at tackling equal pulling out of challenges. They're all different things.

Yes they are. And Iwobi is good at none of them
That's where I disagree. I don't want the belabor this any more but I think he is genuinely good at putting pressure on when we press high. Under Carlo we aren't doing that so it doesn't really matter.

Also on the other part I still don't see what relevance playing football would have to the top levels. I mean I played basketball my whole life but no one has ever dunked in a game I've played so I don't think I'm more or less qualified than someone who just watches and reads about the NBA to discuss that level of the sport.

I don't think those incomings make us a great deal better tbh.
Maybe, maybe not. We're never going to be able to sign the players we know would make us better for the number of positions needed - legitimately need 5 new faces in the starting XI.

Perhaps we just won't be happy. Still, if we are looking to buy 5 new faces I think it looks something like those players.... Largely from foreign leagues, priced 15 to 30m, aged 22 to 25 for most with one more experienced type for Carlo

People seem to forget the severity of the injury that Gomes suffered, the fact that he came back this season at all is incredible but he gets no consideration for being rusty or ineffective while also playing next to a gaping hole. What do people expect? It will take time, he will benefit from the offseason. He still played more games than Delph despite his foot almost coming off in the middle of the season. The fact that he is now being negatively compared to that Matty Longstaff thing is literally adding insult to injury.
It's very simple,if Gomes wasn't 100% fit he shouldn't have played. If he was fit and you think he didn't coast through most of the post lockdown games then we'll have to agree to disagree,or we watched different matches.

I'd get rid of the more experience type if it is Allan. 30m for an above average at best midfielder isn't for me.

On the younger players side I just would hope we could find players with higher ceilings than Bouanga and Brooks. Both have issues that I don't really know will get fixed. Bouanga is a Richarlison type in that he will score but has limited creative output and Brooks seems to me like someone who isn't really going to be beating a man very often but likes to play wide anyway. I just think we can do better but who knows.
