Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Carlo would be the obvious reply but even the pull of him is nowhere near enough because at the end of the day quality players want to sign for a club who look like they're ready to challenge for trophies etc, sadly, we've actually gone backwards.

It will be very, very difficult for us.

If we could pitch Ancelotti + a spending spree at players, then it could be pushed as a fresh start at the club, and an opportunity to join an exciting re-build.

Any player with ambition, and their agent, taking a good luck at us, won't be impressed with what they see. It's all false dawns and misplaced hope, instability, upheaval, wasted money, and as you say, a club seemingly going backwards.

There are still opportunities, and circumstances conversely might force us into taking an approach that works and is sustainable, but its going to be a nerve-wracking few weeks if people are expecting a lot of business.

This window is really only the first phase of an overhaul that will take at least two years. Therefore, it will be far from completed by its end. There is much work to be done.

We sold players “the projects” two years later we’ve gone backwards

Im not sure if weve gone backwards...

On paper weve got: Richarlison, Digne, Holgate and DCL as fixtures.

Lets see with Kean, Mina, Gordon, Gbamin.

On paper its better than a year ago.

We need 2-3 summers to get up to the top.

Wonder if this Keith Azul has heard anything regarding the Foden deal?

Seems like another Brands transfer that has stalled....

A little bit of good news yesterday i see the Times reporting that the PL will stagger the payment due to broadcasters over the coming years and will not be a lumped charge this year and that payment is deferred, thats a good development for us. Only down match day revenue and whatever we loose commercially in footfall over lock down, not ideal but not as bad as it could have been. Clarity as well.

Saint Maximim is a decent player but this doesn't seem credible at all.

They wouldn't want to sell, not least to another PL club, and would only entertain a bid at a stupid level.

They're Newcastle, Ashley and saint-maximim would bite our hand off with a good offer. I like him, but maybe wouldn't take him for the amount it'd take.

Anyway, it's all rubbish obviously.

All transitions take time - which is why we are in this mess currently.

Moyes was the last time the club had stability with a clear vision and direction. Ever since he left, we've moved from manager to manager, each bringing a new vision and style which needed new players that fitted the "blueprint". Then, when the manager inevitably leaves, we're left with players on new contracts that don't fit the next manager's style.
That, coupled with some disastrous executive performances during the transfer windows, has left us in this horrible mire.
We need to stick with Ancelotti & Brands for more than just a couple of seasons if we are to finally get a cohesive squad.
