Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

You say the best 45 minutes of football you've seen in 30 years of watching everton is from John stone's and I'm being ludicrous?!

Your statment genuinely makes me feel depressed. That in your 30 years of football the highlight is watching John stone's loosing a semi final...we're proper crap aren't we:(
Not particularly taking sides, but if you take a single 45 minutes out of anyone's Everton career, I daresay there are many 'world class' performances from which we'd all have our own subjective choice of best. The point is that a proper good player can be good 90% of the time, and only dire once or twice in a career. Stones could look great when playing out from the penalty area, and top class when the defending he had to do involved neat interceptions, rather than getting the arse of his shorts dirty or an elbow in the mouth. Unfortunately, concentration in mundane games, getting stuck in, and week in, week out attention to detail weren't at all his strong points in my (not highly erudite, admittedly) opinion.

ok Sell and get who?

Regardless of who Matty, I'd flog him if anyone offered 20m. He's been the best player under Ancelotti except for Holgate. BUT, one on one me mum could turn him inside out. I want us to be able to press high up the pitch and squeeze the opposition. I don't think we can do that with him (or Mina).

Ive been critical of him loads mate but I've gotta give him credit how hard he's worked to nail a place under Ancelotti.

But I'd still flog him if the price is right.

I agree he’s a donkey to play a high line and as is mina. But selling both to then try and find better isn’t easy

why? Then it leaves us short of a CB and he’s looked decent under Carlo
Because, as I said, he’s got a year and a half left on his contract and he’s one of our few sellable assets that I wouldn’t miss. We’re not exactly flush with money at the moment so now is an ideal time to sell him. He’s easily replaceable imo for less than what we’d sell him for.
I agree. Looks much better since Carlo came in.
Not much better out there anyway.
Utd had to pay 80mill for a new Steve Bruce.
I agree that his form improved under Ancelotti mate but honestly do you really think Michael Keane’s skillset would be hard to replace?

For me he’s pretty much only good at defending in a low block when teams are constricted to hopeful balls into the box which are easily mopped up by big strong defenders like him. Burnley certainly didn’t struggle replacing him. And Leicester didn’t struggle replacing Maguire either.

A smart football club would sell Keane in the current circumstances.

Would you offer him a new contact then?

its time to offer him a new deal or sell otherwise his contract will run down and could go for free at a time we are desperate for FFP money.

he’s looked ok with no fans but nothing more I would sell now we can get better.
Needs a new deal anyway.
Firstly to give him some much-needed confidence and secondly to safeguard how much was paid for him to Burnley where he was playing great and the reason he was poached.
Maybe a new goalkeeper should be sought out instead.
center-backs and goalkeepers can form a whole team going forward and often offer more than some costly overpaid forwards with fancy-sounding names.
