If I were Watford I’d be looking to loan our guys with 12months left on their contract. If they do well they pick them up for free. Plus they’re also the ones we’re least arsed about. Besic and Bolasie to Watford would do them well.

If I were Everton, I’d be looking to not loan our players with only 1 year left unless their wages were absurd.

The possibility of a first choice attack that includes James, Richarlisson and DCL sounds pretty frightening to any prem league defence. Putting Allan, Gomes and Doucoure behind them is potentially poetic. I am truly excited the last few days. Get it over the line Marcel!
I would still agree with many on here that Pickford can be a weak link as he has zero competition right now. He is currently still (literally) the first name on the team sheet as there is now alternative even when his form or lunacy is an issue.

I’d be far more confident in the cups with Romero in goal if he were coming here to be no.2 initially. We might win something! Romero is a strong no.2 and a decent no.1, too many of our back-ups have been just that, a back-up unable to step-up

I agree, but you just know that’s what Watford will look to do. Those two’s value can’t be anymore than £2m each surely considering the injuries and game time they’ve had since being here.

if he sets up something like that then it allows all our attacking players to start in their preferred positions - but it would be essential that we get an attacking RB in as all the width would be coming from the full backs with James playing a more traditional number 10 role. I’m sure he’s played 4312 before, but I can’t confirm.
The finer details like Keane over Mina or if we sign Romero or Arias are a bit more uncertain but the possibility of a set up in that formation is something to salivate over

Just a reminder that it would be a 0% chance we would be making signings of Allan and James if we had Marco at the helm. 6 months into the reign of Carlo we are signing well above average players. Allan is filthy, destructive, and gives that calmness. James is a former world class player only hindered by injuries and swapping coaches 5663 times at Madrid. Would be a great window already. Looks like the LB we signed for free is making himself a home. Get a RB in and this is a totally different team. Up the Toffees!

Really think a narrow 4-4-2 diamond is the way to go, so very similar to what you’re proposing. Our wingers are largely pants. Also believe that Gordon could play centrally in either a box to box role or as a #10. Would suit Iwobi too.

Relies on getting a very good right back in as you say, and I’d like to see someone like Romero come in for Pickford, but it looks incredibly solid.

I'd personally like us to find a formation where DCL ISN'T a starting player. Seems massively out of place in a team containing Allan, Rodriguez and Richarlison. He's not good enough.
