Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

First of all, are we “congratulating ourselves for seeing off Crystal Palace”, or are we congratulating ourselves for winning our opening 3 league games for the first time in god knows how long?

Secondly, what if Leicester get an injury or two to Vardy, Soyuncu, Ndidi or Maddison? Do they still have plenty to do in the market as well? Because without Vardy they are every single bit as bang average as us without James or Doucoure.
We cannot control what happens to Leicester. We can, however, have a plan for when we get injuries, suspensions, etc. Which we will. So, our focus should be on improving what we currently have for the inevitable misfortune. Otherwise, it's trusting to luck...and Evertonians don't tend to get too much of the good variety, if we're honest.

Funnily enough, Vardy never seems to get injured.

We're all hopeful of making a serious push for the top 6, but I feel that clubs like Leicester - who have achieved so much more than our great club over the last 25 years in the hard currency of trophies - are easily dismissed. We finished 12th last season - we have loads of ground to make up. The three super signings have significantly upgraded us...but we have loads more to do, in my view, before we can genuinely expect to make a serious dent on how we are perceived - and on our recent culture of mediocrity. A great start this summer, but lots more to do.

The DCL being just as good is maybe, but I'd kind of challenge anyone to make the case that DCL isn't on the way up and Kane the way down at the minute.

Well age is the obvious difference. While I’d agree Spurs looks an awful place to play right now. I’m a huge Poch fan, I think he really got the best out of Kane without him I’m not sure would we ever really saw the Kane we have at Spurs. He was in the right place at the right time with Poch.

Harry Kane is a great striker though mate, He’s 27, he’s at his apex now till about 31, I expect him to leave Spurs. He’s played CL, won the golden boot in the PL and top scored at the World Cup. Genrally does it Weds, Sat.

DCL has a bit of a way to go to match him, he’s doing well, I wouldn’t get giddy after three games consecutive scoring, he has to prove he can do it as consistently as Kane. He’s not as clinical yet in my opinion, nor as impactful with assists. Hopefully he gets there.

I think it’s a bold judgement mate. But hopefully DCL goes on.

Arkadiusz Milik has been involved in a huge transfer saga over the summer, with many twists and turns. First he was set to join Juventus, and then when they decided on other options, AS Roma became the main possibility for the Napoli striker.

His agent was spotted negotiating the deal and it was all thought to be agreed, before falling to pieces at the last minute. Given he’s now got less than a year left on his contract, the Naples club are keen to sell and avoid the chance of him leaving for free next summer.

A couple of days ago, we covered claims from Italy which stated Napoli had been in contact with the Toffees to see if they’re interested. Tuttosport now reports Everton are ‘convinced’ on the player, and prepared to pay the €25m the Serie A club are asking for.

That may be kicking the deal further along the road than it actually is. There’s a chance the Merseyside club could get him for cheaper, and they’d certainly try that first, and also worry about the level of wages Milik has been asking for.
