I thought Palace had agreed an option on him at around 15m on his loan before Brands had him injured to scupper it.

If Brands can’t accurately predict who will and won’t get injured in the future he has no business as DOF. Doesn’t he at least check his horoscope? Everyone knows Pisces rising in a Capricorn moon means soft tissue injuries are more likely.

well if they were happy to agree that as an option then it's good business isn't it? That's what they value the player at.

Whats the point of artificially inflating your option agreement?

I mean put it this way, if I had my figure of 15m in mind and their first offer was 20 on an option to buy, there's no reason I wouldn't agree it in a world where he has both feet attached to his legs and a pandemic hasn't shut down football for three months. Worst case scenario, I'm still not paying his wages for half the year and he comes back at the end of the loan. Best case I'm way up on the deal I wanted.

That sadly, is not the world we live in.

Edited again because my own valuation of Tosun had slipped by 3m in the last 10 minutes. Corona economy, man.

I think Keane, Bernard, Kenny, Sigurdsson and Davies will stay, the rest will probably go though, if we can find takers for them.

I would like us to stop chucking £25m at any player barcs struggle to get rid of, especially as they pretty much fund the RS. No doubting our business has been good with them but they are always desperate to offload these players

You could agree to a loan and option to sign Sidibe for £13.5 million - doesnt mean we will sign him does it?

Not one club will buy that galoot for £20 million - we would be cheeky asking for £10 million.

So why did Palace insert the clause at that value? It's the buying team that insert it to make sure they get first dibs on the player. They clearly wanted him but didn't have the readies in January.

Because they were deluded enough to think he could be a 15-20 goal a season striker when we all knew that was never happening. If Brands had any sense he would have put it more towards £8-10 million and had he stayed fit who knows they may have taken a punt but I massively doubt they would have exercised that buy option at £20 million imo.

You know Crystal Palace's scouting department have seen as much of him as we have?

They didn't set that figure for a laugh. If they only wanted him for 6 months they wouldn't have inserted the clause. In your opinion if they offer £20m as an option should we be saying "He's no way worth that, make it 8"?

That's the amount the two clubs agreed and that is the amount Palace were willing to pay.

I'm sure you'd be roundly applauding Brands if he'd done that deal.

I'll applaud Brands when he starts bringing in bang for buck.

I couldn't even tell you LFC's DOF name yet whoever that is has gone about their business well whereas Mr Starboy who everyone knows his name has largely been underwhelming so far.
