Same. My understanding was that homegrown applied to anybody who had come from any academy in the same country, but the post I was replying to said it had to be your own academy, and now someone's saying it's been that way for years.

yeh they've got the wrong end of the stick, though i'd like to see them bring in a rule about having a certain amount from your own academy in the 1st team squad.

Well Chilwell is 4 years younger. If Digne was the same age I'd be with you all the way.

Judging on yesterday, I think Digne would be a good, probably more affordable alternative to them to Chilwell. If we got £40+m that would be a good deal for us.

I don’t know why we should price him less than Chilwell? He’s got far more experience, can take set pieces, and contributes far more key oases than Chilwell does. It’s just because Chilwell is English and has that Leicester premium on him because Maguire went for big money.

Cant see us selling Digne...if we did though it would be for more than the £52mil City spent on Mendy in 2017 surely?

Id say £60mil fee but then would have Niels and Baines only.

Going off Footy Manager (I know!!! But its usually accurate with this kind of stuff)

You need 4 homegrown players who played for your club between 18-21, and 8 homegrown players in total who played for any team in the country from 18-21. (The 4 from your own academy count towards the 8 total)

My guess is that liverpool and city get round it by registering a couple of youngsters in their 25 man prem squad even if they dont play them

Yeah most "big" clubs register a youth player or two to get them up to 4 homegrown academy players. We have Davies and Gordon in the first team already, players 24 and 25 could be promising prospects like Gibson and Branthwaite (who was 17 in January when he joined) or Simms, Astley, John or another player. Also Beni would qualify as well. So we should be more than fine for that requirement.

I'd sell Digne for 50M+ as I think we could find a decent, younger replacement for half that much. It would also provide massive relief for FFP.
