Amber. And kit
As said, it's highly contentious to apply the word 'amber' to these away kits since the 60s. Amber is such a broad spectrum, and only approximates to the very lightest of amber on an amber colour spectrum:

But the kit's we've used look much more like the deepest end of the yellow spectrum, and belongs in that 'family' of colours:

You can see though that the kits we've used are classic deep yellow. 'Amber' is crazilly out of whack as a description. If people see amber - real amber colour - they are perhaps a bit colour blind.

It ultimatley shows the power of words and tradition. If something is described a certain way for long enough, it becomes 'fact'.

Oh my LORD WHO CARES WHAT THE COLOUR IS CALLED
I dont. I think it's a very nice kit. I'm just clarifying for the record that there's been a misnomer applied. The repetition of it down the years has cemented it as fact.

It's interesting as a phenomenon.

Brilliant I salute you Davek! Off topic slightly but is your avi amber or deep yellow, and I’d love to know your thoughts on The late renaissance Venetian painter Titian’s use of vermillion or orangey red as a technique that revolutionised the use of colour at the time

Amber is not in and of itself a colour, it is fossilised tree SAP, and can be many colours, including yellow. Amber in this instance, when referred to as a colour, is a deep shade of yellow. Same way as lemon, saffron, gold, mustard, etc, are all shades of yellow.

Which means noone is wrong, @davek and Everton are both right.

The shirt is yellow amber. Same way the home shirts are royal blue, a shade of blue.
