I can understand why, at the time, RK didn't include Niasse....what bothers me is that he picked a full back who will not be fit(Coleman), and another player(Barkley) who would be out of the club in all probability if he were fit. Why waste two places in the squad?

Your point regarding Coleman is correct, totally bizarre decision. However your point about Barkley is completely wrong. Everton get 4 home grown players (those who have played for Everton for 3 years between 15-21) in the A list. If they don't fill the quota of 4 then the overall squad numbers decrease by the same number i.e. if Everton have 2 home grown instead of 4 the overall squad is reduced by 2. We only have Barkley and Rooney who fit into this criteria so you have to put both of them in because otherwise you are losing them and an overall squad place.
