Why do we make every team we play look like Barca with Xavi / Iniesta and peak Messi?

Because we give opposing teams the same kind of time on the ball between the boxes by closing down poorly.

Xavi and Iniesta used to create that kind of time on every touch by always putting the ball in the right place, to the right player.

The peak Messi part is the occasional clown car defending.

This is as bad defending as you will see at top level football.

But it's the way we're set up.

Gomes rushing forward, but has no recovery pace. Allan then left with 50 yards of pitch to cover, the defenders s*** scared of pace.

It's mad.
