Encouraging first game, especially after only a few days training to address the dire and putrid tactics that Guillem Balague’s sperm donor was serving up. Everton looked better defensively in open play and far, far better defensively from set pieces after ditching the rigid and quite frankly baffling, zonal marking (Benitez’ major downfall) . A back 5 under Benitez with Keane asked to be peak Beckenbauer turned into a positive 3 centre backs with roaming full backs to create passing triangles further up the pitch to make the midfield 2 less susceptible to being overloaded and an emphasis on 1-2 touch possession. Players were clearly being told to offer movement for whichever teammate was in possession and the distances between players was far more uniform.
If the staff can just get Gray and Richarlison to pass to each other then the result would of been attained far quicker. Well in blues.

Frustratingly I couldn't view the game and from the sounds of it I missed out.

No matter the opposition a win and scoring 4 goals is great for confidence.
Something to build on.

Players moving off the ball, making runs beyond the forward, and picking up the ball between the lines. Actual effective football.

Its only a start but it was a big improvement. Got to roll with the ups and downs and see how this develops

Still a bit of panicking on occasion, especially at the back, but that will take time to rectify.

Other than that, night and day from out previous performances this season.
There will be tough times ahead for sure, and it is still VERY early days, but as long as we see a continuous improvement in the long run, there is great cause to be optimistic!
