He refused to play in that game against them when we had loads of senior players out injured, Hibbert ended up at CB and we got whupped good. Can't remember exactly why tho...

Yobo claimed to be unable to play due to injury, we inevitably got battered, then a week later he flew out to play for Nigeria. This left Moyes fuming.

Ah right. Was that the game where we played Coleman at left back?

Might not have been Benfica actually...He claimed he couldn't play against someone in the Europa League due to injury, then turned out for Nigeria two or three days later and injured himself again.

Fair enough then. Bit of a nightmare though if he's got another 2-3 years on his contract and we can't get him off the wage bill.

This was a classic "good workout". Didn't really have to stretch ourselves and unlike last year when we toiled a bit to beat Bury, this was much easier. I just wish that Moyes would smell the coffee and recognise that 442 is the way to go.

OK, its just pre season, but MOTM has to go to Osman. Ran the midfield. Second mention to the Yak who really did play his part.

Also, once he gets use to it, Coleman from right back is gonna be phenomenal.

How buff does the Yak look there!?

Interesting game that.

Obviously the main thing is to hope that Becks is okay. Can't afford an injury to him at this stage.

Gueye managed to score two goals without actually impressing me at all. Looked awful on the right, ran around a lot but gave away the ball too cheaply. Didn't improve much by switching to the left either, though we stopped attacking as often once we went down to ten men.

Yak was a willing runner and scored a nice goal but his partnership with Becks isn't too convincing just yet. Need time to gel if that's what we're going with.

Coleman got 90 at right back which is good to see. He was nice and tidy, got caught out going forward once or twice early on and played a bit too conservative after that for my liking, compared to how much Baines and Nev got up the pitch and involved in attacks on the other side especially.

Jonny kept going walkabout and inviting pressure on Distin but Distin coped fine. Mind, Jags and Nev did alright in the middle, second half too. Bury were never that good attacking.

Fellaini was good on the ball and bad off it, but him and Ossie in the middle and Mikel on the left looked dynamite. Arteta was great out there and should start there in the league, imo. Good set pieces too, from him, for a change. And Ossie is just class, right now.

Bily and Vic came on second half. Vic going right wing, Gueye going left, and Bily sitting in front of Ossie in the middle. Bily had a good game though Vic kept getting the ball, running past people and then either falling over or misplacing the pass. He's just not good enough.

Nice to see Gueye got 90 mins anyway and Fellaini and Arteta both looked fit in their 45.

Also Moyes played 4-4-2 until we went to ten men where we switched to more of a 4-2-3 with Gueye and Vic pushed forward. Hopefully he'll keep that attacking mindset against the likes of Wigan and Swansea, next year.

Great to see Moyes is considering using Osman in the middle, as a centre mid. It's his best position and if Arteta's going to move to the left then he's the best man to replace him. Not quite as good, but a little different in certain areas, and he might compliment Fellaini a little more with his willingness to run forward and get into the box.
