Unfortunately it shows us exactly why his career has ended up being at everton doesnt it. Bottle job, completely disinterested if hes up against a more physical team and if its a bit cold.

I thought we were getting someone with the ability of mikel arteta in his everton prime working hard and creating chances consistently but weve ended up with a lad that looks like his sluggy midfield mates and turns up for 5 minutes before he looks gassed out and sits on the floor.

Carlos will have a war chest to sort this in the summer, some of these we will never see in an Everton shirt again.

I’d argue that tonight is more a product of Carlo’s misuse of the players at his disposal, than the players themselves not being good enough.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a number of players that should be for the bin, but that’s been the case during our decent runs of form as well. Carlo knows our/their limitations and at the moment is refusing to learn any lessons from them whatsoever. One sticking plaster of a wacky cup result doesn’t alter the fact we’re drifting.
