Browning must have impressed in training. Not surprising as a player is there and we have no depth, but interesting that he isn’t on loan.

I doubt he impressed more Silva did eenie, meanie, minie, mo with him and Galloway.

ooh digne starts, interesting, i like how silva doesn't seem to ponder with making changes to players who have a bad game or two.
Pretty annoying we have jagielka, mina, keane, gueye, mccarthy, baningime, gomes, richarlison and bernard all missing, mostly through injury.

Terrible luck to start the season, but hopefully we can squeeze through to three points here.

Imagine Kenny might be in front of Browning if we needed another centre half anyways. No point getting our knickers in a knot over this.

We really are down to the bare bones today. 8 out injured and 1 suspended. If we didn't have Browning as sub it would have had to be 3rd choice keeper out of the first team squad, or somebody else from the youth set up.

As for it being the worst bench for years, some people will have short memories. I've seen worse and quite a few games where we've had 2 or 3 U21s on the bench. Niasse has proved very useful off the bench in the past and not so long ago everyone was crying out for Lookman to be included. Also i'm delighted Dowell is there and, if it's a tight game, he certanky has it in his locker to offer something different.

In a months time we'll probably be sitting here on match day, with a first choice starting XI, and lot's of quality on the bench, and there will be around 10 first team players that haven't even made it onto the bench. People will then be complaining that one of their favourite players aren't involved.

Football that.

I said it was a big call for silva to pick Digne over Baines, but to me it it the right change. Hopefully this sends a message to the whole squad, no one is indispensable. When you consider the number of injured or suspended players unavailable to us today, then all the players need to be on their game today or fear getting dropped. Just as it should be.
