Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) kicked off his musical career in Brighton (the home town of Massive Attack, Tricky and Portishead). He went up to Hull to join his mate in The Housemartins in the mid 80's (he was bassist).

Good points have been raised in this thread re the possible fatigue factor. A lot of Everton players are in international teams...how many Hull Tigers players are?

Norman Cook may well be from Brighton, but I think you'll find that Massive Attack and Portishead are from the Bristol area. Not sure who Tricky are, so I'll pass on that one.

Back on topic (almost) was Paul Heaton of the Housemartins/Beautiful South from Hull?

Massive Attack, Tricky, and Portishead are from Bristol. FFS Portishead are named after a town nr Bristol.

...yes, absolutely correct. I had a brain fade...apologies (it was very early in the morning here in NZ!!)

Paul Heaton was a Sheffield denizen I think

Tricky was with Massive Attack for their first album then had solo success, he's from Bristol area as well

The only Hull born Housemartin was the drummer & he ended up in prison...good lads who lived in a bog standard house in a bog standard street & hung out in the local - played sunday league V Mr Heaton & he was a decent larker. In another genre The Watersons are from ull & ran a great folk club back in the day. Check out 'weekend millionaire' which some think s/b our club song. I see Mr Moyes has transferred the crap start to the season from you chaps to utd - you dont usually start playing till Xmas...

last year we came out of the blocks well but then got snagged on a whole heap of draws. Ran out of puff to get a top 5 finish...squad depth etc.
And thanks for the Hull info

From the papers....

CT Sport understands that United will table a “serious” bid in the January window, though the exact value of “serious” has not been disclosed. However, it is difficult to see Everton accepting a bid for anything under £12 million and it could be higher despite the player’s age.

FFS!

So if Jennifer Fletcher took a pounding in the ring, she'd look like Steve Bruce?

Agreed.

Jessica Fletcher not Jennifer mate

Great work Chico....poetry.

Bringing three Belgians to tomorrows game, all Brugges season ticket holders who I've given the Everton bug.....so hoping for a Lukaku and Mirallas master class .....although I can see Naismith being the match winner.

Before reading this I knew feck all about Hull City Tigers. I'm pleased to report that, after reading the Chino wearing reporters preview I'm still none the wiser. Well in Chico, not your best, but I enjoyed it anyway (y)
