It stops them singing that we haven’t won a trophy since 1995 at every derby.
How any blue can turn their nose up at a legitimate trophy while we are enduring the longest trophy-less spell in the Club’s illustrious history is beyond me.
Winning a domestic trophy doesn’t have the same prestige as it did 10 years ago, which is a shame
Did you no in our entire history we only won a trophy or 2 in 14 seasons, which is a crazy stat

Question. Should we really bother with this considering how well the season is going?

I know a trophy would be good but there are a lot of games to be played right now and getting Champions League would be very important to attract top talent. Anymore injuries and we will be in trouble. Trying to make a competitive team out of our bench is a big challenge, emphasising the importance of finishing high and attracting better players.

Olsen
Kenny - Branthwaite - Godfrey - Nkounkou
Davies
Iwobi - Gordon - Gomez - Bernard
Simms

CL gets us access to better standard of player. The Sweetshop cup gives the Kopites a laugh.
This is a tiresome facet of modern football. Rival fans pretending success isn’t worthwhile unless it meets a certain threshold of ‘greatness’. Twitter is filled with grim ‘hot takes’ from (mostly daft lads) about the value of winning cups just to put down a rival.

Trophies appear on a club’s honours list. They become part of a club’s history.

Liverpool spent a few years collecting League Cups etc while United won the bigger trophies. It’s a starting point.

What’s the alternative, only wanting to win a league or EC? That’s problematic given the difficulty of such competitions.

Football has changed and getting CL and getting loads more money to get better player makes it easier to win a trophy.
Players now want to join clubs in the CL not who won the CC.

Let’s put it this way. Which one is more important to Richarlison playing the the CL or winning the CC.
Both could happen and hopefully will

Reverse the situation and we were the CL,Prem and WCC holders and they paraded the Caribou, don't know about you but I'd be laughing till next Xmas.

Maybe add DCL to Richarlison who might jump ship for a CL team.
