"Interfering" in that scenario is Lukaku actually playing the ball. Rules are quite straight forward on that one.

Lukaku runs towards the ball but doesn't play it, at the same time Mirallas comes from onside and does play the ball. No infringment by Lukaku.

Now, if Mirallas (or any Everton player) was nowhere in sight then Lukaku would have been penalised for offside when he made a move towards the ball.

But because anothr Everton player who was onside when the ball was played runs onto it Lukaku isn't penalised.

United screwed up quite simply.

Now i believe there is soemthing to be said in their defence for the fact Lukaku being in an offside position affected their movement thus he was interfering, but the law doesn't take that into account.



....it wasn't offside.
