I think Ancelotti has had his two worst games of the season against Newcastle. Trying to get the defensive/creative balance right he played Sigurdsson & Doucoure as conventional DMs and gave Rodriguez a free role. Problem was Rodriguez also played deep rather than orchestrating possession behind DCL in the top third.

it gave Newcastle momentum and confidence from early on. Ancelotti should’ve made the change early to play somebody in the no10 role. Ancelotti was striving to get the balance right but failed.

Too many incidents to demonstrate how we missed Godfrey’s pace and power today. i appreciate I’m like a broken record, but he’s got to play CB.

MoM so difficult, I‘ll have to give it a think, but back to the drawing board for the Manager.

It's one of the reasons keeping defensively solid and getting the kind of wins we got against Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal and Wolves suits us.

However, when the onus is on us to take the game to the opposition, we come undone.

I understand Carlo is talking to Newcastle about getting two of their players, Wilson and another, I am not sure who. Kenwright has got his wallet out standing behind Carlo.

James is 100% sold in the summer when we finish 10th.

There's absolutely no way he spends the peak ages of his career with us in mid-table just because he likes Carlo.

He's got one good transfer left in him and in any case I'm convinced he'll have a heap of get-out clauses in his contract given he was a free transfer.

To make matters worse we'll probably extend Sigurdsson's contract, and go into the new season with Pickford in goal and Richarlison having scored 5 goals this season and still no third striker.

Good times.

I am wondering Im some games show we even be playing James, I’m not sure he is currently really what we need. It’s sounds silly but he’s a luxury player, we just need solid atm, we can’t have a player floating around in our side we sadly just aren’t good enough.

Another disgusting performance after ones were on here the other night talking about how we were good against leicester. Our results have been down to luck over Christmas and our real level was found in the defeats to hammers, newcastle twice, leeds... aside from Allan thats our strongest lineup and we were dominated by a team that lost last 5, no wins in 11 and conceded for fun.
We didnt create at all and absolutely no connection between defense, midfield and attack.
Decision making awful whether that be Doucs at the end, Digne charging across the pitch to their LB and leaving their striker free in the middle of the park, richy giving the ball away 70% of times he gets it, walks away when we have a throw in with his head down constantly instead of showing for it.
Horrible horrible display and the way we change it is to take off an attacker for a poor non-defensive/non-attacking midfielder while leaving Sig on the pitch.
Disgusting.
But hey ho, dont say anything negative or youre a kopite.
