Afternoon all - NUFC fan here (in peace, of course!)
Firstly I must say, contrary to what you may see online fan channels spout, this is certainly not a given for us in any way, shape or form. Most Newcastle fans see this as one of our most difficult games remaining, alongside Brighton & Arsenal at home.
We have a poor record at Goodison and you have a boisterous home support - especially when your backs are against the wall. We're also wearing that cursed Saudi kit (0 wins so far this season in Green/White) I'd almost definitely take a point and move on to two home games next week. It's a huge game for both clubs.
Secondly, despite a resounding win at West Ham & a come-from-behind win at Brentford, we actually haven't been playing that well away from home. West Ham could have easily scored a couple more in the first half, and 1-5 did end up flattering us a bit if we're being honest.
Brentford was very similar to Villa away (worst performance of the season by a country mile) - we could have quite easily been 2 or 3 down at half-time, despite coming from behind to win. At home we tend to be a lot better.
I know it's easy to say these days, but social media has given people a platform to talk all kinds of rubbish. I understand many (most) of you will despise Newcastle and think it's mutual, but from what I can see it's nothing more than idiots online creating a false rivalry for the sake of a few likes. My late maternal Grandfather was a Liverpudlian and a staunch Evertonian (even taking me to Goodison in 96 to spoil Shearer's debut!), so from my perspective I've always looked out for your results.
Everton are a proper club and it would be a huge shame to see you go down. I know first-hand what it's like when the ownership is toxic and there is little connection with the players. I would just stress to keep the faith. Keegan (I know, I know...) said this many moons again, and whilst I know Evertonians will continue to back their team, I thought it's fairly fitting given the current situation;
"Don’t ever give up on your club. Keep supporting it, it’s your club and trust me, one day you will get your club back and it will be everything you wanted it to be"
Anyway, enough of me rambling. I fancy a low-scoring 1-0 either way tonight. It'll be difficult for us, no doubt about it. Hoping we have enough in the tank to hold of your neighbours for 4th, whilst also hoping you get enough points to stay up. After tonight of course...
Best of luck for the rest of the season boys & girls, hopefully see you next year!
