Play a super aggressive style of football that basically dares the ref to take authority in an ecosystem where VAR has completely diminished their authority altogether. They've had so many games this year where straight reds are just yellows and second yellow cards aren't cards at all. Joelinton is the worst for this, can't believe how much he gets away with just bombing round the park and flattening blokes.

We've either got to match that or we're toast. And even if we do then there's no guaranteeing that the ref doesn't send one of our lot off instead. The alternative is that we hope the ref takes authority and isn't afraid to discipline them.

Either way we are beholden o the officials. Which is a scary thought.

Is a strange one though. Bar the arsenal game we have been the bette team in every home game and created numerous chances. Even Man U last week, if we went in at half time 2-1 or 3-1 up no one would have argued. We create more at home than away yet we win more games away, why is that I don’t know. We certainly have a certain approach and application in away games, but we can’t argue we have had loads of good chances to really put teams to the sword at home. Is it mental blocker for our players not to score easy chances at home but convert harder chances away?. Either way we need to address are home form, even just have an average home record this season will see us safe.

The Geordie lads I work with are sound, but they are a bit older.

I don’t know why some of their fans have a beef with us, they have never been a rival to us.

They have as many non geordie fans (fans down south) as either the RS or Man U, something which gets forgotten about at times.

They have nowhere near the levels of non-local support as Man Utd or Liverpool - it’s not even close.
