Never fails to amaze me how many of you give the slightest crap about this cup though. It's a complete distraction - in my eyes, it's a couple of irrelevant games fewer to play over the season to avoid injuries, grab a bigger advantage on competitors with fixture congestion and so on.

The FA Cup, yeah I get it, but the League Cup? Not for me.

...No striker beyond Lukaku. No playmaker beyond Barkley.

While I'm not a huge fan of the League Cup anyway so our departure from it isn't much of a travesty, I am concerned by our lack of depth.

Without Lukaku up front then we look pretty toothless when it comes to converting the numerous chances we make. This isn't a new worry!
