Oviedo played well today. He had a quiet spell for the first 20 mins of the second half but he looked like he could cause their defense problems. Also, apart from the 'cross' to Jelavic, Naismith had his best game yet for us today. I can't remember him giving it away, which even Baines was guilty of today, and on another day could have had a couple of assists to add to his goal. His goals could be very useful for us this season.
 
Oviedo MOTD for me, Hitz looked good but his passing% must of been dire, sHeitinga is a time bomb, Howard is what we already know, terrible of his line & Jelavic isnt getting the service and is maybe a bit on his heels, another get out of jail free card though, with Arsenal dropping points

Much room for improvement
 

So once again it looks like Moyes has signed a decent striker, allowed him to play the way he can for half a season, and has then got him playing an entirely different game based on running like crazy towards the corner flag instead of staying in the box were a possible chance might arise. The way Moyes would like to play all the time, his striker is basically a target man and an out ball from defence. Moyes tactics are based on goals from midfield a lot more than based on strikers actually scoring goals. Truly, the club that can boast Dean, Latchford, and others amongst their legends, has become the graveyard of strikers.

City and United should be clear at the top, but even they're not invincible. Di Matteo was popular with the Chelsea players, so it remains to be seen how they react to another temporary manager. West Brom surely don't have the strength in depth to sustain an assault on the top 4.

We're going through our sticky patch at the moment but Spurs, Arsenal et al still haven't been able to overtake us. We're only 3 points behind 4th place, who entertain City tomorrow and there's every chance that West Ham will cancel out Tottenham to keep the same gap below us.

Traditionally we improve in the second half of the season. We'll have Hibbert, Neville, Gibson, Anichebe and Mirallas coming back from injury. Hopefully Pienaar and Jelavic will begin firing too. And then there's Oviedo, Naismith and Barkley to really find their feet. That's all before any possible new arrivals in January. Keep the faith.

If they dont have the strength in depth, then we have no chance, where would we be now if we had a Lukaku on the bench like they did today
 

Its a form a game . When players are off form then they are usless . Would like to oviedo for pienaar felli for naismith gibson for hitz and mirallas .

think west brom could be the dark horse this year they look how we did the year we finished 4th shame we have become the media darlings alongside arsenal and spurs we cant deal with expectation
 
If we have had Messi on the bench today Dithering Dave would have not used him, He praised Barckley all week & watched three of our midfielders tire out inside 10 mins of the 2nd half - if he can not get a runout in that 2nd half performance, we will never see Barckley so why fetch him back he has been playing well in a poor Sheff wed team scoring goals!
