Match Thread Everton v Notts Forest. Sun Dec 29th. 3pm

Not getting too overconfident on the “man for man we aren’t much worse than them” stuff and how we should win and send out an all out attack. Form and league position after this many games is massive. We rightly celebrated a point against the (currently) worst team in the league, who had 1 win in 6. NF have 5 wins in 6. Be a very tough game this. A win would be a big sign that we can afford to look up a bit instead of down. Huge performance required.

If he sets us up like the last three games it will tell us all we need to know about his limits as a manager.
We’ve set up the same way since the Bournemouth capitulation tbh which is a real shame because we played really well for 80 minutes that game and actually looked like a football team

I’m not expecting anything today, Nuno has this forest team playing like peak Moyes - rock solid at the back and with a bit of pace up top around a solid goalscorer

Mad, the amount of writing off of Forest, while completely ignoring their excellent form/league position. The fume on here later is going to be unprecedented.
You could twist that the other way around and say its mad the amount of writing Everton off as well, after 3 very good points v 3 very good teams. We obviously play another one, but writing us off with a defeat before the match has even began is Matty style's of thinking

The 2 teams with the least possession on average in the PL, should be a good game to watch... Forest literally have double the points we do, 17 v 34...

Can`t see anything other than a 0-0 or Forest win, we`ve only scored in 2 of the last 8 games so if they score we are in trouble.

Their wins this season are :-

Liverpool a
Southampton a
Palace h
Leicester a
West Ham h
Ipswich h
Man Utd a
Villa h
Brentford a
Spurs h

Now compare them to ours!!! This Dyche team is not capable of winning many of them games they have won, as has been proven...

We're going to win
I sincerely hope you’re right mate, but the only teams we’ve beaten this season are in 16th, 17th and 19th, and we’ve already lost at home to those in 6th and 10th (both below Forest).

Writing off Forest because they were crap a few years ago, when we’re in the middle of being perpetually crap, managed by a piece of crap who has sacrificed any attacking football we might otherwise play for the defensive solidity he was supposed to bring with him and build on just seems weird to me.

Whatever, though, COYB.

I look at stuff like that as scored in 2 games from last 4 instead of spreading it out. It's like for example if we beat man utd say 6 games ago meaning one win in 6 - its gets said like its one win in 30. You could also look at forest as they are the lowest scores in the top 12. We can twist everything anyway anyone wants it.

I mean, it’s just odds making mate. We’re very close to halfway through a league campaign and they’re 4th with us battling relegation once more.

I want us to win, pretty desperately, but the odds are that we won’t.

I agree we’ve defied those same odds in the last 3 games but when you consider Chelsea went on to be crap again against Fulham and City are on a run of crapness not seen for years, I don’t think they say as much about our ability to upset the odds as they do about the pre-match odds being based more on the name of the teams involved. In much the same way, again, that people seem to be overlooking the team in 4th on merit.
