DCL & Richy both rested at a minimum, possible they could be on the bench but hopefully just leave them out altogether as they could both do with a total rest.

If Bernard to Roma is true then I’d expect he’d play no part as well, so Gordon will definitely be involved. I think Simms would be bench at a minimum and hopefully he gets at least 20-30 minutes. I am predicting this:

I'd play James and try to get him at least 60 minutes of conditioning. Obviously Tosun is in. Maybe go with Iwobi on the left and Gordon on the right. Would really like to see either Iwobi or James in central midfield and hopefully we go from there once everyone is fit. Obviously Nkounkou should be in too.

I would hope we have a lead at half time and I would bring off Digne and James. 45 minutes will be enough to get them some match sharpness but we need to think about the games ahead. Mina definitely needs a rest and it would be good to see if Godfrey and Keane could work together in the centre. Doucoure also needs a rest and if we are comfortable late on I would give Simms 15 minutes off the bench.

Yes I’m not sure why people thinking our U23’s would walk through them. It will be a tight game - we’ve struggled against worse sides than this.
