That goal being disallowed brought a visible lift to them. Nothing seemed to go our way for about ten minutes afterwards.

We should utilize DCL's abilities more. He wins most balls in the air and can outsprint their defence. They really struggle with it. We play it forward to slowly at times.

A good enough first half, hope we make it more comfortable early doors in the second.

Something is just not right about this team, the right side is offering nothing going forward, Holgate just not comfortable in that position and Doucoure isn't a creator. Gomes is just not doing enough, fleeting in and out of games, not tackling or not getting on the ball. The 4 players on the ball most in that half have been Keane,Digne,Godfrey and Pickford and that's just passing between themselves. Best chance of scoring here is on the break if Soton push forward or from a set piece.

Lovely goal by the way, DCL did well and good ball from Siggy and a quality finish from Richarlison I'd love you to coast home now and not have to suffer.

Lack of balance. We know the right side has been non existent since Silva’s first season really. Needs addressing in the summer.

Southampton have scored 1 goal in the 2nd half in the last 13 matches and Hughes is encouraged. Wonder why he hasn't got a managerial job.

It's a very Italian style from the 80's / 90's we seem to be seeing. We've got the early goal, then we just pass it round the back, slowing things down with the occasional foray forward.
Football Italia was murder. Especially as they tended to show that week's 0-0/1-0 while there was a 5-4 game somewhere else. Usually featuring Sven's Sampdoria.

so do 90% of the posters on here haha

Some proper mad shouts on here. If I wasn't watching the game I'd think we were putting in the usual Everton that performance.

We're not though are we? We're winning and we've been in control of the game. They've hardly had a sniff and we've had the ball in the net twice. Yes, we could have been a little better in possession at times but we've been alright. Solid and controlled. We'll need to focus and keep intensity in the second half when we face their inevitable pressure, but I think we can pick them off and get a second. Good performance so far.
