It was Southampton at home

Of course it was good enough

The problem was we didn't turn up until it was too late

People are acting as if the changes weakened us.

Tosun is a better striker than DCL or Niasse.

Bernard is supposedly a better playmaker than Gylfi (according to some on here).

Davies and Kenny are pretty key figures atm.

It's not like we named a ressie team. That team may well have to play PL games this season.

We would have been a lot stronger with Digne, siggy, Walcott and Richarlison..
To say different is folly.

And ultimately he made the correct subs who got us equal

He picked a side capable of winning who ultimately let us down

I doubt any of them will be too upset over this loss either

We just don't try as hard in this competition for whatever reason

Apparently beggars can be choosers after all...

Perhaps our players receive too much nurturing love at FF (we are "the family club" after all).
But the lads put a lot of work in visiting local orphanages and work-houses etc and, imo, that's more important than playing togger (which let's face it, they are poorly remunerated for doing).
Looking forward to seeing the lads do their Blue Chrimbo thing....they make us all SO proud

OK but that's a lot of negative 'ifs' What IF nobody got injured and we won our way through, giving the fans the players and the whole club a lift of mood and a winning buzz.. I think that would mean a lot to many.
Then we have to go to Leicester next. Then most likely play one of City, Chelsea, Spurs or Arsenal if we win and then most likely play one of those 4 over two legs. And even if we do win the thing half the fans will still go "It's just the League Cup" because in reality it is just the League Cup. I think you can tell by how the club as treated it down the years that win or lose it doesn't really mean a lot internally. I expect a good performance at Leicester this week.

well for me that draws a close to silva's honeymoon period.
im not impressed, and to be honest I dont think we look any more like a team determined to win than we did under our last 3 managers.

I hate to say it but I think its been a false dawn and it will be another long hard to watch season.
my only glimmer of hope is that gomes comes in and makes our midfield tick better. failing that, it will be the same old problems with the same players with the same attitudes, the same short comings and same mistakes with the same outcomes.

the moral belief and optimism at the club took a massive nose dive tonight. a heavy price to pay for not picking the strongest team and playing a negative formation. the blame rests firmly with the manager.

Meh, there we go. That team was good enough. I'm not going to blame Silva. The same who moaned about a rested team would have cursed him had he stated someone like richarlison and he then got injured "in a meaningless game".

We have a good squad and we tried to use it, it just went wrong.
